How to lose weight fast
Lose Belly Fat
At this point in time there are precious few people who have not heard how bad belly fat is. This layer of extra weight is much worse health wise and it is known as visceral fat. Visceral fat is deeper than the jiggling stuff on your arms and legs, in fact it can affect your heart, liver, lungs and other internal organs. Unfortunately it doesn’t just lay around either, fat can make a lot of nasty substances. It is important to point out that being overweight in general is not the only risk for high levels of visceral fat, even thin people can have too much of this type of belly fat.
What causes visceral belly fat to increase? Inactivity seems to be the most likely culprit. In order to lose belly fat it is imperative that you get your body moving for at least 30 minutes per day, five days per week. (Yes, you can have a couple of days to rest!) A few simple ideas for more exercise include:
-Walking- No you do not have to join a gym to get more exercise, you can walk and burn calories. The trick is to get your heart rate up enough to burn calories. Make sure your walk is brisk enough to elevate your heart rate, get you breathing hard and sweating.
-Dance- If you want to get some exercise but most ideas seem daunting or boring consider taking a dance class or joining a dance based exercise group.
-Jogging/ Running- you can run, even if you are slightly to moderately overweight. Just remember to stretch properly, wear appropriate foot wear and build up slowly.
-Activity- do you enjoy sports? Any activity that gets your heart pumping and sweat running is good for combatting belly fat.
You will likely run across numerous advertisements that claim to have the perfect belly fat busting exercise. Unfortunately, targeted exercises will not trim the fat from your waist. Consider the first time you started noticing weight gain, did that donut or cheesecake you ate go directly to your belly? Of course not, weight comes on gradually, for some people it will be the hips first, for others the arms or other parts of the body. Eventually you will notice body fat has increased overall, which is the same way you will remove it!
Why then does targeted exercise seem to work? In most cases sit ups, twists or crunches are not actually reducing the belly fat but toning the muscles in your abdomen. This gives the appearance of lost fat, and you may be losing some fat as well, but you would have lost the fat with any type of exercise that burns calories.
One of the most touted yet most overlooked aids to weight loss is a simple glass of water. Well, eight simple glasses of water to be exact, but whose counting? Water is an essential substance for the human body, it aids proper cell function, digestion and so much more. Unfortunately, a large number of people live their life in a constant state of near dehydration. Insufficient water intake can slow your metabolism and make you feel foggy or fatigued which in turn makes it very difficult to exercise. Increase your water intake today, it is a simple painless way to jumpstart a healthier lifestyle.
What You Eat
The final piece in the puzzle is of course diet. You may be able to overcome fast food and sugary drinks with exercise for awhile, but if you really want to kick the belly fat or fat anywhere on the body you have to take a healthy approach to eating. Eat to live, don’t live to eat!
