A five minutes summary of The Oresteia, by Aeschylus (circa 525/524 – circa 456/455 BC)
The Oresteia is a dramatic work consisting of such tragedies as “Agamemnon,” “The Libation Bearers,” “The Eumenides,” and a drama “Proteus” written by an outstanding ancient author Aeschylus. Since the text of “Proteus” has been almost entirely lost, now, The Oresteia is a trilogy narrating about the tragic fate of the house of Atreus and its most outstanding representatives – Agamemnon and Orestes – who die to bring their family curse to an end. The trilogy touches upon the themes of fate, retribution, justice, and divine will.
