This is an update of the teacher guide previously published and sold by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, now with an increased emphasis on decimals and fractions (including metric and customary measurement), place value to a million, and number sense for factors, multiples, common multiples, and primes (to build mental math for simplifying fractions and finding common denominators). The 5th grade Calendar patterns explore common multiples, algebraic functions, and graphs. The patterns often provide practice using attributes to place shapes into the hierarchy of polygons.
