AP African American Studies [Project- Based Learning]- Topic 2:24: Freedom Days: Commemorating the Ongoing Struggle for Freedom
Through a simulation for creating your school's upcoming Black History Month Juneteenth-inspired Assembly, students will engage in a project where they take on multiple roles, each with distinct tasks. The four primary roles include the Event Coordinator Team, Program Managers, Public Relations & Marketing Team, and Technical Support. Each team will be responsible for specific aspects of the assembly, ensuring a comprehensive approach to organizing and executing the event. The simulation will immerse students in real-world responsibilities and collaborative efforts essential for a successful assembly.
The project will involve three key tasks related to what they've learned about for topic. These tasks will challenge students to create a detailed assembly plan, develop engaging promotional materials, and ensure technical readiness for the event. Through these activities, students will deepen their understanding of the historical significance of Juneteenth and its relevance to contemporary struggles for freedom while planning a memorable celebration for your school to enjoy during Black History Month.
