Every interpreter learns the rules: stay neutral, interpret in first person, don't advocate, don't interrupt. But every experienced interpreter eventually hits a moment where following that rule exactly as written would cause more harm than good and basic training rarely covers what to do next.

This course teaches the built-in exceptions the code of ethics already allows: when advocacy is justified, when first person isn't the right tool, how positioning and mode shift in emergencies, when to advocate for your own safety, where confidentiality has legally required exceptions, and when interrupting is the correct professional call.
