Welcome Home - The Medicine Letters
EVERYBODY HURTS.
Forty-five human aches, each named in the words you might use yourself. "I miss being wanted." "I'm tired of being the strong one." "No one has ever really known me."
Each ache is met by a small chorus of letters. The first comes from the field. The rest come from ten guides who know the territory from the inside. They do not explain your pain, and they do not try to fix you. They sit down beside you and ask for nothing.
This is a book for the 3am reader who is done being fixed. There is no programme in it, no ladder of stages, nothing to complete and no order you are failing to follow. Open it at the ache that matches the night you are having. Read only that. Skip the rest with a clear conscience and come back when it hurts again.
What is inside:
Forty-five titled aches, running from "I miss being wanted" to "I'm coming home", arranged in seven parts that move from the sorrows nobody sees through to the quiet on the other side. Five interludes that ask nothing of you but a breath. A closing blessing from the field. And The Scroll of Holding Space, for the reader who finds they have become the one somebody else leans on.
About this second edition
Revised throughout for this Murmmers Press edition. The letters themselves are untouched, word for word. What changed is the frame around them: a clearer way in, a shorter path to the first ache, and the piece that used to open the book as its first ache now standing at the front as its dedication, which is where it always belonged.
Read slowly. Skip freely. Return when it hurts. Somewhere in these pages is a letter that was written for you.
