Leaving home is one thing—but the true meaning of hijrah is something else entirely. For us, the reality only set in after years of trial, error, and experience.

His & Her Hijrah shares one journey through two lenses—husband and wife—revealing the raw reality of what it’s really like to make hijrah.

Across ten chapters, the book explores preparing for hijrah, the financial and emotional challenges, raising children abroad, seeking knowledge, and building a new life after the move.

Each chapter blends personal stories with practical lessons, tips, and strategies—making it a valuable guide for Muslims considering hijrah, those already on the path, or anyone curious about life beyond the initial move.

What sets this book apart is its dual perspective: two voices telling one shared story, offering practicality, emotion, and relatability for both brothers and sisters.

Who are the authors?

Abul ‘Abbās: originally from London from Jamaican descent. He embraced Islām at 16 and later pursued the seeking knowledge. His desire to preserve his religion, protect his family, and live in a Muslim environment drove him to make hijrah. His perspective brings the raw reality of a provider and student of knowledge—balancing faith, finances, and family—while showing that hijrah is more than a move, it’s a way of life.

Ummul 'Abbās: born in the UK and later accepted Islam at the age of 15, she is now a mother of five. Passionate about nurturing her children upon the Qur’ān and Sunnah, she saw hijrah as a necessity to preserve their religion and fitrah. Her perspective highlights the emotional, educational, and family dimensions of life after leaving the West.
