This 104-page "My journey in Color Journal" was co-created by a now 14-year-old girl.  Her words, her feelings expressed, and her favorite images became the tool that allowed her to express her world without conversation or judgment.  Her expression of the untold feelings and images was, and still is, pivotal to her healing journey, and taught me, as a mother and practitioner, the power of creativity.

When a family structure changes due to divorce, children feel insecure and fearful, often thinking that they may be the reason for the changes.

Children play, and their feelings inevitably become part of their play.  Depending on their ages, playing out their feelings may sometimes happen in ways that seem unacceptable but that smack of hurt and insecurity, not anger.   Older children and teens become argumentative or overly accommodating in an attempt to keep the status quo.

The biggest challenge parents face in changing family structures, is having children express their feelings in words (verbally).  This is what parents need and is inherently based on the assumption that the child understands what the emotion is, and what it represents, and is able to name and express it in socially acceptable ways.

This journal provides "Sometimes..." scenarios (honest accounts of feelings) and "Remember" and "What I can do" ideas, with positive affirmations on each color-in page.
