A young girl named Nia processes her grief over her grandfather's death by folding one thousand paper cranes, a task he suggested in a final note. With the help of her friends, Nia transforms her living room into a sea of paper wings, each one a folded memory. When the last crane is folded, the paper creations take flight, carrying Nia's message of love and loss into the world. Though her grandfather doesn't return, Nia finds peace and a way to keep his memory alive, teaching others to fold their own wishes into the wind.
