Waste made invisible
I borrowed this title from Norman Solomon's War Made Invisible because waste is complained about but treated as thought it wasn't happening. Certain fraudsters proclaim loudly that they will recycle this or that and so the public seems to think, let them have it, they are doing their best and we have nothing to offer. This thinking could not be more wrong. Recycling is totally useless as a solution. What is does is to pretend that a solution is being tried, so don't think about the problem any further. Waste is invisible! Real solutions are actually just waiting to be tried, and are achievable, but so long as the problem can be made invisible, those who profit from the status quo are ecstatic.
