To Greece, trading was an essential part of living due to the unsuitable soils and land that were unable to maintain crops. Rugged mountains, deep valleys with rocky soils and narrow areas made it difficult to produce most crops, despite being idea for olives and grapes. The Mediterranean Sea was also prone to natural disasters that ultimately destroyed societies without any warning. Despite the misfortunes that came from the sea, Greece managed to maintain success and a lasting empire. (Acrobatiq, 2017)
