The country I choose to compare to the United States of America’s (U.S.) Healthcare system is Japan. Healthcare systems within the U.S. is soaring well into the trillions. According to World Health Organization (WHO), the national average for healthcare in the U.S. in the year 2015 was 7.2 trillion dollars (WHO, 2018). The cost per capita for the U.S. in 2015 was $9507.20 and in Japan the cost per capita is $4435.60 (Sakamoto, Rahman, Nomura, Okamoto, Koike, Yasunaga, ….., Ghaznavi, 2018). That is a significant difference between the U.S. and Japan, the U.S. is $5000 more than Japan per capita. Even though Japan covers almost 100% of its population. According to WHO, Japan has two major insurance carriers, Employees’ Health Insurance and National Health Insurance (WHO,2018).
