I just finished reading ‘This Above All How to Live an Artistic’ Life by Jason Cannon.
This is definitely a must read for anyone but particularly those who love art and theatre. Jason Cannon writes in a way that is so easy to read. He makes his thoughts and experiences a real page turner as if it was a mystery novel. His chapters are short and make you want to hurry up to the next chapter. I am not a professional artist but I do dabble in community theatre. I loved reading about his teaching apprentices, the stick story was particularly interesting and funny. His experiences as a director are very revealing to anyone who goes to the theatre. Jason tells you about himself and his family and as you read it is as if you know him and his family very well. Jason’s book is a fast read and well worth the reasonable price.

I am an older person who has had the great privilege of a second career in theatre. Though this book states that it is "How to Live an Artistic Life", it applies to all walks whether you are an actor, accountant, bus driver, or just plain person. If you take nothing else away from this book but the chapter, "A Note on Anger", it is well worth the price and the time to read. I think this book should be required reading in every highschool in America.
