Mellotape started with a feeling. I wanted the warmth of worn tape, the haunted shimmer of a mellotron, and the small imperfections that made old synths and tape machines sound alive. And I wanted all of it inside Serum.

So I built it from the ground up: not tweaked factory presets, but a full sound set grown from new raw material. Wavetables sampled from analog and digital vintage synths, mellotron tapes, and real acoustic instruments, plus a library of noise and texture that gives every patch its lived-in, slightly dusty character.

The result is 261 sounds that feel like they have a history. Lush strings and choirs that breathe. Basses with weight and grit. Keys, brass, guitars and woodwinds that sit somewhere between memory and machine. Score with them, flip them into samples, or write straight to the grid. The character is already baked in.
