Greece had the Mediterranean Sea, the Ionian Sea, and the Aegean Sea that border the island, creating narrow, rocky coastal areas making it hard for invaders to beach their ships. Greece is also covered by eighty percent of rugged mountains and deep valleys, which would make it hard for armies to march over.
