My First Music Adventure is a colourful, activity-filled beginner music book created especially for children aged 4–6. Developed as part of the Serumula Children’s Music Education Series, the book introduces young learners to fundamental musical ideas through listening, movement, clapping, counting, pictures, games and simple rhythm activities.

Children begin by discovering the sounds around them before gradually exploring musical concepts such as high and low sounds, loud and soft sounds, fast and slow sounds, steady beats, note names, note values, rests, dotted notes and simple 4-beat rhythms.

Rather than simply asking children to memorise musical symbols, the book encourages them to hear, clap, count, colour, match, move, draw and create.

Young learners will meet the semibreve, minim, crotchet and quaver, discover how rests create silence in music, learn how different note values fit into a 4-beat bar, and eventually build and read their own simple rhythms.

The book combines early music education with bright illustrations and African-inspired visual elements, giving young learners an engaging and culturally meaningful introduction to music.
