Is This My Preference or My Programming?

A four-week workbook for people who have learned to read the room before they read themselves.

There comes a moment, usually quiet, usually inconvenient, when you realize you cannot remember the last time you made a choice that was just yours.

You have kept the peace. Said yes when it cost you. Apologized for things that were not yours to apologize for. And underneath all of it, something is asking a question you have not known how to answer: is any of this actually me, or is this just what I was trained to do?

This workbook is for that question.

What is inside:

The Approval Dependence Map. Eighteen statements across six areas: permission-seeking, fear of disappointment, emotional collapse after criticism, overexplaining, resentment, and identity confusion. Not a total score. A shape. The shape tells you where the work is.

A four-week practice designed to move you from seeing the pattern to changing it. Week by week, at the pace of someone who is not trying to fix everything at once.

Week 1: Notice where the approval reflex fires. Change nothing yet.

Week 2: Make one small choice a day that is yours. Survive it.

Week 3: Say one small no without the paragraph of reasons attached.

Week 4: Feel the guilt that follows and do not let it undo the boundary.

Whispers to God for each week, because sometimes you need words that do not require you to have it together first. Writing space for what is sitting with you. And a closing that does not rush you past what you just did.

Who this is for:

People who say yes and then feel quietly angry about it. People who rehearse explanations before hard conversations. People whose sense of being a good person depends a little too heavily on other people thinking they are one. People who were discipled into kindness but are starting to wonder if some of it was training into compliance instead.

You do not have to be sure which one it is yet. That is what the Map is for.

What this is not:

Therapy. A cure. A promise that four weeks will undo years. It is proof that you can choose for yourself and survive it. That a guilt wave can rise and fall without you obeying it. That small is a real starting point.

After the four weeks:

If this workbook surfaces something about a specific relationship, a wound that goes deeper than a pattern, the Forgiveness Clarity Roadmap picks up where this leaves off. It is built for the larger work underneath what you just named.
