Poly Strings (VST3, CLAP, AUv2)

Poly Strings is a MIDI echo effect for turning played notes into plucked, decaying MIDI repeats shaped by a simplified string-resonance model.

Each incoming note acts like a string being struck. The first note keeps the input velocity, then the follow-up MIDI notes are generated from the remaining vibration. Tension and harmony shape the repeat speed, damping controls how quickly the echoes fade, pluck position changes the initial strike response, and coupling lets nearby held notes push and pull against each other.

Because the echo happens in MIDI, Poly Strings works before any instrument you choose. Use it to create reactive plucked synth lines, resonant chord repeats, soft cascading delays, rhythmic ostinatos, and melodic patterns that decay with more movement than a fixed MIDI delay.

The interface shows the same behavior visually: active notes appear as vertical strings, with vibration and retrigger activity drawn directly in the display. Per-note controls let you tune the last played note, while the random button can quickly create new string relationships across the full MIDI range.
