{"id":183,"date":"2014-12-31T16:05:35","date_gmt":"2014-12-31T16:05:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/payhip.com\/blog\/?p=183"},"modified":"2020-07-29T21:47:29","modified_gmt":"2020-07-29T21:47:29","slug":"new-terms-of-service-eu-vat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/payhip.com\/blog\/new-terms-of-service-eu-vat\/","title":{"rendered":"New Terms of Service \u2013 EU VAT"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>TLDR; we&#8217;ve updated our terms of service so that we can handle EU VAT for you.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When we <a href=\"\/blog\/payhip-takes-care-of-vat\/\" title=\"Payhip takes care of EU VAT\">announced <\/a>we were handling EU VAT for our customers, we got a lot of positive feedback which we really appreciate as feedback is what keeps us pushing forward.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve now <a href=\"http:\/\/payhip.com\/terms\" title=\"Payhip Terms of Use\">updated our terms of service<\/a> so that you provide us a licence to sell your work for you. This allows us to take on the legal burden of calculating VAT and reporting it to HMRC (UK) on your behalf. The important bit to read is under the heading &#8220;Licence to redistribute and sub-licence your content&#8221;. The new terms of service is effective as of today &#8211; 31st December 2014.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The main changes for your buyers will be that we ask them for their billing address if they are based in the EU, this is an example of what they will see:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/payhip.com\/images\/help\/22.png\" alt=\"Checkout with billing address\" style=\"border: 1px solid #EEE; padding: 0px; margin: 0px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In addition, there is a new important setting you should be aware of in your dashboard under \u201cSettings\u201d > \u201cAdvanced Settings\u201d. You can set whether you want VAT to be included or excluded from your price.
