Do you really know who you are?
Not who pain shaped you to be... not who your family expected you to be... but who God originally designed before you ever took your first breath.
If you’ve ever wrestled with shame, emotional confusion, or an aching disconnection from your real self, I see you. I was you.
And today, I want to help you take a faith-forward step toward emotional healing and rediscovering your Christian identity in Christ.
When My Identity Was Shaken
I remember standing in the mirror one Sunday morning, full face of makeup, church-ready... but empty inside.
I had learned how to “perform healed,” quoting Scripture, wave, smile, even giving advice to others. But deep down?
I didn’t feel chosen.
I didn’t feel seen.
I didn’t feel like me.
Somewhere between childhood trauma, emotional neglect, and church perfectionism, I had lost my voice. I didn’t know where the real me had gone, only that she was buried underneath performance, people-pleasing, and spiritual guilt.
That’s when the Lord whispered: “I never called you to pretend healed. I called you to be whole.”
What Is Your Christian Identity in Christ?
Inside the Brilliance Within path, we focus on restoring emotional order and rebuilding identity from the inside out.
That means getting honest about our wounds and allowing God’s truth, not trauma, to define us.
Your Christian identity in Christ isn’t just a spiritual tag line. It’s the truest thing about you.
It’s what allows you to move with peace, lead with authority, and rest without fear.
As 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) promises: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
But let’s be honest: new doesn’t always feel true, especially when old pain still echoes loudly.
Why So Many Christian Women Feel Disconnected
If you grew up hearing more about “acting right” than being emotionally whole, you’re not alone.
Maybe you heard things like:
- “Be seen, not heard.”
- “God’s not pleased with you when you act like that.”
- “You’ve got to earn favor.”
These messages, spoken or unspoken, can wire your soul to believe you’re only loved when you’re useful or silent.
I carried beliefs like:
- “God is disappointed in me."
- “If I mess up, He’ll leave.”
- “I’ll never be as strong as the women around me.”
But these are identity distortions, not Kingdom truths. And without healing, it’s nearly impossible to fully walk in your Christian identity in Christ.
4 Truths That Rebuilt My Identity in Christ
Healing didn't happen overnight. But here are four truths that began rewriting my soul:
1. You Are Chosen
Ephesians 1:4 (KJV): “He hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world…”
Even when I felt overlooked as a child, God saw me. He sees you. You’re not an afterthought. You are on purpose.
2. You Are Redeemed and Clean
Titus 3:5 teaches we are saved “not by works… but by His mercy.”
No more hustling for holiness. Guilt no longer owns me. Jesus didn’t die for my mask—He died for the real, raw me.
3. You Are Emotionally Worthy
Your tears matter. Jesus cares about your sadness, your anxiety, and the little girl inside you still waiting to be loved.
Healing your inner child is a holy act. It’s not selfish—it’s spiritual warfare.
4. You Are Called to Lead
Isaiah 61:1 (KJV) says you are anointed to “bind up the brokenhearted.”
Your voice has power. Your story has purpose. You were born to bring healing, not just receive it.

FAQ: Questions I Asked (Maybe You Are Too)
Q: What’s the difference between self-esteem and identity in Christ?
A: Self-esteem changes. Identity in Christ doesn’t. It’s not about how you feel. It’s about who God says you are, even when your feelings argue.
Q: Can I still claim my Christian identity in Christ if I feel broken?
A: Yes. Brokenness doesn’t cancel truth. Identity comes before full healing. Healing happens in identity, not before it.
Q: I go to church every Sunday. Why do I still feel lost?
A: Knowing doctrine is different from knowing yourself. Many women know church… but haven’t met the healed version of themselves in Christ yet. That’s what we’re doing here.
Let’s Declare This Together:
💬 “I renounce every false identity spoken over me.
I reclaim my God-given brilliance.
I am emotionally safe, spiritually anchored, and rising in my full Christian identity in Christ.”
You are not who trauma named you.
You are who God created you to be: whole, beloved, powerful, and free.
You’re Not Starting Over. You’re Starting Restored
Beautiful, this isn’t your breakdown. It’s your becoming.
You’re not going back to who you were.
You’re becoming who you were always meant to be in Christ.
Let this be your Brilliance Within moment. The part where the masks drop, the wounds get tended to, and the real you rises.
