Brick Effect When Coloring: Step by Step

A few days ago, I decided to start a new section where I’ll share step-by-step coloring tips, everything from textures and patterns to blending, lighting, and shadows. I hope you enjoy this new section! 😊

Brick Effect When Coloring: Step by Step

  1. Draw the Bricks: Use a ruler to outline the bricks on the wall.
  2. Apply the Base: Color all the bricks with the lightest color (YR5) as your base.
  3. Outline the Edges: With the same YR5 color, lightly outline the edges of each brick.
  4. Add Shadows: To create depth, color some bricks with a darker tone (BR3)
  5. Balance the Tones: Reapply YR5 to the remaining bricks to maintain a balanced color scheme.
  6. Reaffirm the Edges: Go over the edges of the bricks again with YR5 to sharpen the lines.
  7. Add Mortar: Use a white pencil or gel pen to draw a fine line between the bricks, simulating the mortar.
  8. Highlight Final Shadows:Add a final layer of BR3 to some of the brick faces to intensify the shadows and enhance contrast.

Done! You now have a realistic brick effect!
