👉🏽 Why Growing Deeper Roots in Christ Matters

Hey Beloved,

If no one has reminded you today, let me be the one to say this: God loves you, and your Spiritual Growth Matters. That’s not just a nice phrase to encourage you on a Monday morning or during your quiet time. It’s a truth that I carry deep in my heart — and it’s why I recorded the video, “Why Spiritual Growth Matters.”

In this post, I want to walk you through the three main points from the video — not just as lessons, but as life lines. These are truths I’ve lived, wrestled with, and continue to grow in. So take a moment, breathe, and let’s walk this out together.

Here are 3 Reasons Why Growing Spiritually Matters -

1. Not Everyone Is For You — So Stay Rooted in Truth

This may be hard to hear, but it's essential: not everyone wants you to follow Christ. Some people — knowingly or unknowingly — are being used to deceive, mislead, or distract. And not everyone who claims the name of Jesus is truly following Him. Some are twisting Scripture, and without discernment, it’s easy to fall prey.

That’s why spiritual growth matters. You and I must know the Word for ourselves. We need to be in prayer, rooted in Scripture, connected to believers who are firmly planted in truth, and led by sound teaching. Without this, we're like trees without deep roots — vulnerable to being uprooted by the winds of deception.

🕊 Scripture to Reflect On:

“You must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

— 2 Peter 3:18 (NLT)

2. You Are Called to Share Your Hope — So Grow to Give

Spiritual growth is not just about you. It’s also about who God is preparing you to reach.

When someone asks you, “Why do you follow Jesus?” — can you answer? When life gets hard and people see your peace, can you tell them about the Source of that peace?

You don’t need a theology degree, beloved. But you do need a relationship with the Holy Spirit and a rooted understanding of the Gospel. As you grow, your testimony becomes clearer, your joy becomes contagious, and your words become seeds of hope for others.

🌟 Scripture to Reflect On:

“If someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way.”

— 1 Peter 3:15-16 (NLT)

3. Growth Keeps You From Falling Away — So Keep Going

Let me tell you — spiritual drift is real. And it’s often subtle.

You don’t wake up one day and decide to walk away from God. It happens slowly when we stop pressing in, when we stop pursuing Him, when we allow the world to dull our hunger. That’s why Peter encourages us to supplement our faith with godly qualities like self-control, endurance, and love.

We’re not working to earn salvation, but we are striving to remain anchored in it — to live out our calling and to finish well.

🌱 Scripture to Reflect On:

“Do these things, and you will never fall away.”

— 2 Peter 1:10 (NLT)

Final Thoughts: You’re Not Alone in This

I know growing spiritually isn’t always easy. But it is worth it. And the beautiful truth is that you’re not doing this alone. God has placed people in the Body of Christ to walk with you. So get connected. Find believers who are rooted and love God deeply. Let’s grow together.

Don’t forget — spiritual growth is not about striving for perfection. It’s about staying connected to the One who is perfect.

  • So let’s keep growing.
  • Let’s grow deeper roots.
  • Let’s grow together.

With love and grace,

Lashondra
