6.5 AGAIN? READ THIS | Motivation

"Winners Never Quit and Quitters Never Win." - Vince Lombardi

It is true that all winners have the perseverance to achieve the goal that they set for themselves. They have a strong determination to make it a reality because they believe in themselves and they have the urge to change their lives for the better.

However, achieving what they want is not a walk in the park. Undeniably, most of them go through a series of failures before they get to where they want to be. They fail over and over again until they learn from their mistakes and change their approach to fulfilling their goals.

"No man is an island." - John Donne

We all need valuable people to help us lead to the success that we long to attain. These people can be our family members who never fail to encourage us to keep going, or they can be mentors who guide us and help us develop the skills that we need so we can succeed. The support of a mentor is as valuable as the support of a loved one, who is rooting for us, because it gives us clarity on the things that we need to do that will lessen the delay of success that we aim to achieve.

Sometimes, we trust ourselves so much that we fail to acknowledge the weaknesses that we have and that stops us from attaining our goal early. We must understand our capability and humble ourselves in asking for help from those people who already become successful in the path that we are also treading. There is grace in accepting the fact that we do not know everything and there is grace in knowing that we lack something.

It is better to ask for help than to remain stuck in frustration for not achieving the goal that we set for ourselves. Success comes easy when we are surrounded by people who support us, understand how valuable our goals are, and guide us. We need quality people who can help us develop the skills that we need.

Let us invest in our future. Let us recognize the possibility of asking for help. While it is dignified to do things on own own to achieve our goals, let us all be realistic that not all of us are naturally equipped with the knowledge, creativity, and skills that are needed to achieve our goals. The good news is these three important factors can be learned.

To share with you my experience, I decided to ask for help from a professional IELTS coach when I was preparing for my exam, and because of that, I was able to understand my weaknesses which I did not recognize on my own. Once I knew the areas of improvement, that was the time I developed practical strategies so I could turn my weaknesses into strengths. My decision to ask for help truly paid off as I got a band 9.0 in the IELTS Speaking exam on my first attempt at taking the test.

If those two students who shared their success stories have the perseverance to make their dreams a reality, then don't give up on your dreams. You can make it, too!
