In my last post, Self Image, Self Worth, Self Belief & Their Effects on your Manifested Reality,
I mentioned the importance of the two components behind Self Belief which are Integrity and Self-Discipline.
Having integrity means that you keep your word. This requires, that you keep your promises, either to yourself or to others.
But keeping the little promises to yourself says a lot more about who you are and is a thousand times more important than being able to keep a promise to someone else.
This is why. When you are able to keep the promises you say to yourself, in other words, you do what you tell yourself to do, you strengthen new neurological pathways & connections in your brain. You are creating a new mind, a new being, a new self.
By doing this, you tell your brain who is boss, and it conditions your brain to work for you, instead of against you.
So what happens when you don't keep the little promises to yourself?
Two things happen when you don't do what you say (or tell) yourself to do.
- You are telling yourself / your subconscious mind that you are not worthy of doing or having whatever you told it to do (or have), and
- You are telling yourself / your subconscious mind that you don't take yourself seriously.
Say that you feel that you want to eat healthier. You recognize that eating healthier will give you more energy and increase your mood. So last night, you told yourself that you were going to pack a healthy lunch in the morning to take to work.
But you woke up too late, and did not prepare lunch. You tell yourself you will eat a salad at the salad bar. But then your friends call you for lunch and they want to eat McDonalds, so you go with them to eat McDonalds (even while you remembered that you told yourself you were going to begin to eat healthy. You know (consciously) you gave a promise to yourself.
This might see harmful but it has its consequences. If this pattern persists, it will strengthen the wrong neurons in your brain, and your brain won't make new connections, which means that the part that tells you that you should stop eating junk food, will go through atrophy. Meaning your conscience will stop watching out for your well being. It will disappear.
It's like having an angel and a devil on your shoulder. The less you listen and do what the angel tells you to do, the more it will disappear..you are killing your angel, otherwise known as your conscience.
Or if you say to yourself, I'm going to go to the gym tomorrow. But tomorrow comes, and you don't feel like going to the gym, and you have repeated this pattern for a few days, even weeks or months. When you tell yourself you want to go to the gym, your subconscious mind will be actively looking for distractions so that you don’t go to the gym.
In order to manifest amazing things into your life on autopilot, you must align your subconscious mind with your conscious mind.
The Subconscious Mind
The subconscious mind is power without direction. It's like lightning. It’s powerful, but it goes and does whatever it wants to do (programmed) without thinking or direction.
The subconscious mind takes cues from the conscious mind and creates its own narrative.
The Conscious Mind
The conscious mind is basically your 5 senses. Your sight, sound, smell, touch and taste.
You see or feel things through your conscious mind.
If felt or thought hard enough, you begin to adopt a feeling or emotion, which then gets trapped by your subconscious.
Align your Subconscious mind with your Conscious mind.
Make your subconscious work for you by aligning your words with your actions.
Elevating your self image means you elevate your self belief and by raising your self belief, you raise your self worth
Begin by strengthening your self belief
Personal integrity is absolutely crucial for our sense of worth and wellbeing. For many of us, we garnered our self worth from feeling valued by our friends or social groups or from setting goals for ourselves at school and getting good grades.
But what about the rest of us?
If we didn't develop self worth at home, through friendships or by attaining goals, where did our self worth come from?
The truth is, a lot of us are still living life in an unconscious state of low worth.
We didn't grow up with parents praising our every move or using the words worthy when referring to us. We wore our siblings hand-me-downs and were expected to be happy with what we were given. We weren't expected to bring home good grades from school which means we weren’t expected to be good at anything. Where then does one develop a sense of self worth and if we do, what would or should it look like?
While I believe in the power of gratefulness and being thankful for what you have, in every area of your life, I don’t believe one should stop there.
The truth is, a lot of us are still living life in an unconscious state of low worth and it's seeping into all areas of our life and its showing on the outside.
If we have low self worth, we have low self belief and a low self image. This is what I call the Trinity of the Self, as illustrated below.
How to Raise our Subconscious Self Image
We cannot raise our self image without raising our self belief and self worth. Why do we speak about raising our self image and not our self belief?
When I speak about manifesting amazing things in our lives I speak about things that are not in your reality, neither have you imagined them for yourself.
These are things that the universe will offer you, will present to you that will wondrously surprise you and appear in your life, without you having even visualized it, asked for it, nor given any thought to. The universe will present you with gifts that you couldn't have even imagined for yourself. Things so far out of your imagination or expectation.
How is this possible and how does this work?
This all works by raising your self image. What does that mean, to raise my self image?
First, we need to begin by creating a strong belief system in our mind. All this means is that you become aware of your desires and create goals you want to attain.
Everything starts with a piece of paper and a pen or pencil. By writing your goals and desire down, you become halfway into making these achievements a reality.
Use this free Brainstorming Worksheet to do this exercise.
You need to start listening to yourself and doing the things that you tell yourself to do. By taking action on your words, you create a belief system in your mind which means you are on the path to believe in yourself - your capabilities.
This is the first step. If you are already good at achieving whatever you put your mind to. Great. You may have already reached vast success for yourself.
Next, we need to raise our self worth. Of course, this subject is a lot more complicated and deserves a lot more attention than this article.
To simplify things, self worth will be the words you tell yourself. How do you speak to yourself? What kind of words do you use to describe yourself when you speak to others? What words are you using when you speak to yourself?
Take inventory of these words. Keep a journal and take at least 5 minutes a day to write down your daily thoughts and emotions. Don’t limit yourself. Write whatever your heart desires.
Journaling will help you understand yourself better. It will allow you to peer into your mind, your internal conversation, your internal thought system and patterns.
Then once you know and see clearly your thought patterns, the words you use to describe yourself, your thought patterns within different circumstances, work on either changing these words to reflect a high sense of worth, even if you don’t quite believe it yet. Change your words.
Choose your words wisely, when speaking about and to yourself. Instead of participating in self criticism or self deprecation or any low vibrational thought about yourself and others, either stop your thought entirely, or choose better words.
Choose words that will elevate and speak highly of you instead of lowly.

Make the intention to change your words and your language and practice speaking highly of yourself in all areas and situations of your life and every moment possible.
Once you build a self belief system in your mind, meaning your subconscious mind takes your words seriously and believes in you, because you make the intention to back your words up with actions. Congratulations you believe in yourself and in your capability to produce, create and accomplish things. You automatically start thinking higher of yourself.
Now you are also speaking highly of yourself. Your words are blessing you instead of cursing you.
What all this creates is that you begin to strengthen and create new neurological pathways that serve and increase your well being and create a better reality for yourself. Your mind is now working to create a new and better reality for yourself.
Your self image has automatically improved. But not in all areas of your life.
Perhaps there is one area of your life you want to improve more than others.
This is why I have created the Trinity of the Self workbook that you can get for free here.
