Discover Magnificent Art Through Unexpected Color

Artists & Their Chromatic Signatures: A Look at the Color Palettes of Masters

Look at artworks from a fresh perspective by focusing on the colors before considering the technique or the overall beauty of the piece.

My Artistic Journey

When I encounter stunning art, my first reaction is to appreciate the immense talent of the artist. I admire the passion they poured into their work, the time they dedicated to bringing their vision to life, and the message they wish to convey for the world to briefly grasp their perspective.

Next, I take a moment to truly examine the artwork. I analyze the lines, shapes, and the overall approach the artist chose to create their piece. I observe the brushstrokes and the daubs of color made with a palette knife, attempting to mentally recreate the layers of the artwork. It feels as though I'm trying to paint it myself, seeking to experience the artist's genius firsthand.

Finally, I extract the colors I perceive within the art.

Although my recent pastime involves studying each artwork digitally while confined to my small room, I strive to enlarge each piece to sample the colors I discover in these masterpieces. This exploration is what inspired the color books I've created. They reveal hidden features—the “Easter eggs” of the paintings—that often go unnoticed because people are more interested in the history, reputation, or aura surrounding the artist. My oversimplification seeks to uncover those hidden details that I wish to see, discover, and repurpose for my own creative endeavors. I’m not interested in owning a beautiful, expensive art book; instead, I want to tear, rip, and reconstruct. I prefer to take the influence of these works into my daily designs. The colors, the movement in the rich paint on the canvas, the swirls and shapes—these elements of creativity that flowed so effortlessly from each master—I yearn to absorb them into my psyche and channel them into creating new masterpieces.

This is the moment when I feel closest to realizing and experiencing the emotions that fueled each artist in their creative journey. I view art as a way to separate my ego from that of the artist, moving beyond the world's misconceptions to truly engage with the passion that embodies the spirit and soul of a human being, which results in a true masterpiece.

About My Latest Book

In my latest book, *Artists & Their Chromatic Signatures: A Look at the Color Palettes of Masters,* I reimagine beloved masterpieces by digitally sampling colors and uncovering unexpected combinations and discoveries. It’s a novel way to perceive art.

As a designer and web developer, I have trained myself to see things in layers, experiences, and final products. My background in fine art has elevated my perspective, prompting me to instinctively deconstruct these masterpieces. While many wish to possess a piece of beauty or extract the essence of an individual's creativity, my obsession lies in uncovering the hidden facets within each artwork.

If you share this compulsion to find a unique perspective when engaging with art, I invite you to explore my color books and discover what I've uncovered in each piece. I encourage you to avoid leaving your book on a shelf—tear it apart, add to it, or transform it however you wish to ignite the spark of human creativity that resides on the lightweight paper it is printed on.
