Gray Smoke

Verse 1:

Let the shadows come

Let the night

befall my dreams

Let the sky

bring back my memories

in the twilight of my days

Verse 2:

I will take these steps

I need to walk them

There is no one here

on this climb, on this road...

Quiet is the wind

on the top of the mountain

Chorus:

Bring back my memories

Bring back the dawn

Let the sun ray come inside

Invite me in to yellow light.

Bridge:

I float in gray (3)

amidst the cloudy skies.

The Colors Seasons Wear

Verse 1:

It’s all gray now

Dusk doesn’t sleep

Winter chimes a lullaby

to never wake again

Verse 2:

It’s all gray now

Oceans lie frozen

Spring welcomes the sun

to melt frost again

Verse 3:

It’s all gray now

Love beneath the snow

Summer lifts the ground

to find hope again

Verse 4:

It’s all gray now

Fights foretell shadows

Monsoon brings the rain

to let go again

Verse 5:

It’s all gray now

Broken hearts bleed

Autumn lets them fall

to renew itself again

Chorus:

It’s all gray now

When will it all end?

Colors don’t consider

the seasons iron will

It’s all gray now

Synopsis

GRAY is the color of dreams that unearth themselves while we sleep but secretly make known their existence during a monotonous day. We forget that under the gray microscope of twilight, all things are seen equally and measured for what they are. In this anthology—Gray: We Hide Our Colors Within (Volume 1 of The Gray Volumes)—41 of Ink Gladiators Press’ co-authors join hands creatively through art, prose, poetry, photography and lyrics to illustrate why this paper mâché world still needs our unique splash of colors.
