Ripped Wings
Everlasting is the Dark as it battles the flooding of Light. People who are used to getting things done their way and who actively choose themselves all the time can find it difficult to love. They think that if you loved them then you have to do all the things that they love too without once putting themselves out for you or acknowledging that maybe, just maybe, your experiences and tastes differ like the difference between a mountain loving the way life comes to it and a river that runs through valleys, excited about seeing something new all the time. It hurts to be treated like something you enjoy is base and ordinary. They hurt me yet they cannot see it. The scars—I feel it pinch and twist until I reel, feeling them burn inside like a sliver of iron shoved into my heart. I yearn to yank it out. My trembling hand—burdened by its obligation—is afraid to try because the conflict that might occur is something I'll avoid for as long as possible.
I don’t feel like trying any more. Some part of me has pulled up a wall. I refuse to bring it down because I do not care for the citadels of hope that come crashing down atop my head, each time I jump exhilaratingly into life. I never start out expecting, yet I always end up expecting, knowing that for all my talk of ice barriers, I melt into hungry, running water, unable to stop myself from jumping into the unleaded fire of eternal hope, not worrying about drowning again for what if, this time I float?
This vulnerability I hold inside is like a fragile doll I’m afraid will break into pieces. But right now, I hear it telling me it is too late. It already knows that my heart is broken.
Synopsis
Unchaining Freedom Trilogy - Book 1
Name Your Demons: Meeting Your Bleeding Wounds
What are demons? Are they hidden under those labels we know so well—Loneliness, Insecurity or Depression? Do they appear in forms we recognize like anger, jealousy and judgment? It is easy to pretend that demons do not exist. It is dangerous to imagine that if you do not know anything about them, then you are somehow free from being tormented by them. It is foolish to believe that everything that presents itself to you as light is light. With compelling storytelling, authors from all over the world come together to give us a glimpse of their inner demons, unapologetically calling them out and taking away their power word by word, story by story and voice by voice.
