Ruth Anderson

In April 2018, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I began taking anti-depressants and quit my job in retail. I had no idea what I wanted to do next.

It’s fair to say that I was feeling lost, scared, sad and lonely.

I needed some purpose in my life and that’s exactly what blogging gave me. What started as a way to document my mental health journey quickly transformed into one of the biggest passions in my life. I completely fell in love with blogging and realised it was something I should have started a long time ago.

Since then, I have connected with so many amazing bloggers, worked with several companies, grown a Twitter following of over 14,000 people and (hopefully) brightened lots of lives along the way!

The support I have received and the success I have achieved has far exceeded my expectations. There have been highs and lows, but it’s been life-changing, which is exactly why I want to encourage others to start. My low self-esteem could have stopped me (and has certainly tripped me up a couple of times) but I didn’t allow it to. I don’t want it to stop anyone else, either, which is why so much of what I do is centred around building others up.

My mental health has come a long way which is thanks to medication, counselling and blogging. It has been crucial in my recovery. To have the opportunity to share that and help others get started is truly a gift for me.

I live in Aberdeen with my wonderful boyfriend, Neal, and my utterly adorable cat, Juno. I love the colour yellow, have an ever-growing notebook collection, drink lots of tea and squeal at pictures of piglets.
