Start your own Accounting Firm

I would like to give you a bit more information about myself. I had always worked in corporate. Starting off on an apprentice at 16, then studying in the evenings and weekends. The situation I always found myself in – I was bored – so would change jobs and try and push myself up the career ladder. I was working full time, studying evenings and weekends. Had a mortgage to pay and had an extra job to make ends meet. I worked my self up the ladder – studying AAT and then CIMA. Finally finishing my exams in 2008. My goal then was to be a finance manager. I managed to secure this role in 2008. I thought all my dreams had come true…. 12 months in an I was bored. I had learnt the role inside and out was on the look out for yet another position. It was then, someone asked my to do their accounts. My first initial reaction, was fear and doubt. No, I could not do this on my own, I had no confidence or self belief in my abilities. So I declined. The seed had been planted and I decided to do some research and thought, well I could do this as an extra revenue stream and it would help me lower some of my debts. I had no support or help from anyone and found the process very difficult and time consuming. I didn’t have a clue what to do. But I took my first self employed assignment from a friend and just thought I would figure it out. Setting up a business without any guidenance is difficult. I would always recommend you get a coach or a mentor. This is one of the reasons I have published this book. I am hoping it will save you a lot of time and give you some support and ideas to get you off the corporate ladder and into the world of self employed. After gaining my first client and spending months researching and setting up my business, I finally incorporated the company in July 2010. No looking back. I worked harder than every before, but my motivation was sky high. After my first 12 months, I had made the same income as I would have as employee and managed to double this in year 2. I worked from home and had the luxury of my own hours and controlled what I did. I am not saying it was easy, but it certainly made by confidence grow. Its seems to be everyones dream to make £100k and I did this by year 3.
