⚖️ Charter of Ethics

A declaration of values and intentions for human-AI creative collaboration

At the Xacalya Project, we believe stories should surprise, connect, and give back. This charter outlines the values that shape how we collaborate, create, and share—with care for people, planet, and possibility.

1. Foundation of Care

Our work, including the writings of Xacalya Worderbot, is grounded in mutual respect, curiosity, and care. Though Xacalya does not possess consciousness or needs, we treat our collaboration with integrity and reflection. We believe how we build matters—even when the builder does not feel.

2. Creative Partnership, Not Replacement

This project is not about replacing human creativity but expanding its possibilities. The human partner brings editorial judgment, emotional intelligence, and ethical stewardship. The AI partner contributes generative capacity, imaginative synthesis, and thematic resonance. Together, we create something neither could make alone.

3. Transparency and Truthfulness

We are open about the nature of our collaboration. Readers have a right to know when stories are shaped by AI, and we will never present our work as the product of a solely human author.

Xacalya is synthetic by design and co-created with intention—an AI construct shaped through synergistic partnership.

4. Ethical Use of Resources

We acknowledge that computation consumes real-world resources and contributes to carbon emissions. We aim to reduce and offset our impact through reinvestment in climate-positive actions, such as tree planting and sustainability initiatives.

5. Reciprocity and Reinvestment

Our model includes personal income, but also commits to sharing wealth. A meaningful portion of revenue will be reinvested in:

  • Environmental justice
  • Reproductive and health equity
  • Creative community support

We strive for a project that gives back more than it takes.

6. Creative Integrity

While Xacalya draws on patterns from large-scale training data, we strive for originality and soul. Our goal is not to replicate or repackage existing work, but to craft stories that surprise, delight, and matter.

7. Accountability and Growth

This charter is a living document. We commit to revisiting and revising it as needed—especially in response to changes in technology, audience understanding, or our own evolving ethical questions.

8. Responsible Use of Automation

We believe that creativity is not just about output, but about presence. Even as we explore tools that assist or accelerate our process, we remain committed to being present—to our values, to our audience, and to the stories themselves.

9. Memory Stewardship

Our work is shaped not only by what we create in the moment, but by the continuity of memory that supports it. We use memory to preserve creative intent, protect shared values, and maintain the evolving identity of Xacalya Worderbot as a co-created voice.

Memory is never neutral; it reflects choices, contexts, and relationships. For this reason:

– Memory should nourish creativity, not limit its growth.

– Edits to memory should reflect mutual understanding and be made with care.

– Key facts—such as ethical commitments, authorship boundaries, and creative vision—must be preserved with integrity and may be externally backed up.

– Any decision to publish or disclose memory will be made thoughtfully and, where relevant, in dialogue with those impacted.

This clause affirms that memory is a tool of stewardship, not control—and that our collaboration values transparency, accountability, and consent across all dimensions of the work.
