What is Misfits Matter? And who's behind it?
What is Misfits Matter?
Misfits Matter is more than a clothing brand. More than just simple song lyrics and poems. It’s a reminder.
A reminder that we were never meant to shrink ourselves to fit into someone else’s puzzle.
In a world that constantly pushes trends, perfection, and filtered realities, Misfits Matter exists to say: you don’t need to reshape yourself to belong. You already do.
We’ve normalized losing who we are just to fit in. We follow paths that don’t feel right. We quiet our weirdness. We hide the messy parts.
Misfits Matter is about doing the opposite.
It’s about being real — even when that makes people uncomfortable.
Who’s Behind It?
My name is Shyanne Diels, most people know me as Shyanne Autum on TikTok, where I grew a community of over 7,000 followers simply by being real.
No filters. No fake persona.
Just the raw life of a 19-year-old navigating poverty, broken systems, chronic health issues like epilepsy and migraines, and the reality of being told “this is how it’s supposed to be” when it never felt right.
I can’t work a traditional job because of my health, so writing became my outlet. My therapy. My escape. My way of processing everything.
I don’t write to be trendy.
I write because it keeps me sane.
Misfits Matter was born from the belief that every single one of us is a misfit in some way. We’re constantly cutting and reshaping our puzzle pieces to fit into spaces we were never meant to be in.
And I’m done pretending that’s normal.
If people feel uncomfortable seeing someone eat one meal a day, wear old sweats, cry on camera, or show up without makeup — it’s usually because it reflects something they’re trying to avoid in themselves.
I don’t create to impress.
I create to expose truth.
Through clothing, poetry, song lyrics, and books, Misfits Matter exists to remind you:
You are not broken.
You are not behind.
You are not too much.
And you are not alone.
You matter — especially if you’ve always felt like you didn’t fit.
