What are the changes on January 1, 2015?
From January 1, 2015, suppliers of broadcasting, telecommunications and electronic services (BTE) to customers in the EU will have to account for VAT based on where their end customer resides.

Does it affect U.S. sellers?
Yes, the new EU VAT rules on the supply of digital services affect all sellers (EU and non-EU). As soon as your digital content is available to the world, you need to be EU VAT compliant.

What information does Payhip collect?
We collect the IP address and billing address of each EU customer. We store this information so that we can report VAT to HMRC. We do this so you don’t have to.

What can I sell on Payhip?
You can sell any digital file on Payhip. We have lots of content creators selling their ebooks, music, videos, sewing patterns and other digital products.

Do you charge VAT to customers outside the EU?
No, we will only charge VAT if we detect that your customer is based in an EU country. Otherwise, no VAT will be added to the transaction.
