A PDF fights you on all three. The layout was designed for a printed page, not a scroll. The loading delay reads as friction before they've even reached your work. And on mobile — which is increasingly where this first scan actually happens — a PDF frequently displays as a zoomed-out, barely legible rectangle that requires pinching and dragging just to read a sentence.
The version that gets remembered
Portfolios that get a second look tend to share one trait: the reviewer didn't have to fight the format to see the content. That's not about flashy animation or expensive software. It's about removing every point of friction between someone's curiosity and your actual work.
