In an apparently perfect society, a novice art curator becomes obsessed with a comic book hero, only to discover she might be real—and everyone wants a piece of her.
Synopsis:
In what appears to be your typical modern city, a novice art curator named Yu gets the job of collecting a series of comics about a supposedly mythical character named Ikkyu. Seems like a fun gig until Yu begins reading the comics. Yu is recovering from a serious case of co-dependency and low self-esteem, and the comics trigger her vulnerability. She becomes quietly absorbed in the Ikkyu character, but when she finds out that Ikkyu could be a real person holding powerful secrets, her interest turns to obsession. She's not the only one after Ikkyu—government agents, a cult, anarchists, and passionate fans are all in pursuit, and Yu becomes the centre of a secret obsessive vortex.

"Unique and Compelling Vision: Saw this gem at an advance screening and was blown away by the cinematography, casting, soundtrack and editing. It reminded me of some of my more favorite films of Hal Hartley such as Surviving Desire and also a bit like Wim Wenders' Until the End of the World. So you can guess from those comparisons that this film hinges more on concepts and visual style than plot or character. One of the most outstanding aspects of the film is the intriguing soundtrack. Haven't heard a soundtrack quite like this one before where it seems specifically designed to complement the concept and themes of the film on both a rational and emotional level.
