In November 2025, the Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri shared simple, tactical steps you can take to significantly increase your reach. If you want to grow in 2026, these five elements are non-negotiable:

• The Hook: You need a reason for your audience to stop scrolling within the first three seconds. This can be a Verbal Hook (the headline you say/write) or a Visual Hook (a physical action that grabs the eye).
• Example (Visual Hook): Start your video with a disruptive action like boys throwing a snowball that "splashes" the camera lens and then transition immediately into your main content. The shock factor makes people pause, and the curiosity keeps them watching.

• Captions: Many users watch Reels on silent—whether they are on a commute or sitting next to a sleeping spouse. If you aren't using on-screen captions, you’re losing views.
• How to Turn on Captions?: When you upload anything (post or Reel) on Instagram with audio, you will be given the option to turn on captions with a single tap. You can do the same thing on Instagram's Edit app.

• Translations: Automatic translation is now available. Use it to reach a global audience and connect with followers who may not speak your native language.
• How to Turn on Translation?: Go to your Instagram settings and tap on the 'Language and translations' option. From here, you can set your own Instagram language, select a language to translate Reels, and even choose languages you prefer to keep untranslated.

• Music: Music isn't just for Reels anymore. Carousels with music are now being distributed in the Reels feed. Use this to your advantage if you prefer posting carousels.
• How to Add Audio?: When you upload any piece of content on Instagram, it will give you the option to add audio. You can do the same thing on Edits app as well.

• Trial Reels: This is a powerful way to test content with non-followers. It works best if you have at least 500 followers; after the trial period, you can choose to share the post with your entire existing audience.
• How to Automatically Share Your Trial Content to Everyone?: When you are about to post a reel, scroll down and toggle on the 'Trial' option. You can then choose to share the content automatically.
