Avatar inspection:

An avatar inspection is an indepth check on your model. This includes all aspects of the model to determine its rank of optimisation and quality. This inspection is essentially an indepth Quality Assurance Test. Passing models are classed as safe for public spaces whilst non passing models are classed as private spaces only.

Asset inspection:

Asset inspections are an indepth check on the UVs, polygons (including things like your edgeflow and topology), textures, rigging. This inspection is a Quality Assurance check of the item. Passing items are classed as good for sale. Non passing items are classed as work in progress.

Want to know how you can improve your models?

With this summary of your model you will be able to be confidently take a look at your model from a different point of view. With each report, your models goods and bads with explanations on how to improve on issues that your model may be facing will be written up in an easy to read format.

In order to give a fair point of view no information on requirements for passing models will be provided. However you should be striving for optimisation first.

FAQs

If its an avatar I will require the unity package as well as a list of prerequisites that need installing.
If its an asset i will need the FBX and texture set. Alternatively I will accept .blend and .maya files.
(please note that once the report is complete that the models will be removed from the test environment. This means that once these are removed I will no longer be able to provide anymore feedback on the model this is done to ensure the safety of your assets and to keep space clutter to a minimum on the virtual machine)
You will receive a written report on the model including ways you can improve the model to be a better performing avatar. This written report will also include helpful screenshots for a visual guide on what needs improving. If it passes grade you will receive a PDF attachment to include with the model that states that its passed all requirements so your buyers can feel more at ease that its an optimised model.
You will be given a queue number to start with. Once you reach first place in the queue expect the report to come through in around 3-5 business days.
I think its important as artists for us to think of our buyers and the people around them. Without us as the front line of modellers how do we expect things to change? With the current market I believe that a lot of optimisation is not being utilized and its causing issues for buyers but also sellers too. There's a lot of complaints in the marketplace about avatars and assets due to them being unoptimised.
For the time being yes. However, if the load gets to be too large I will attract a small fee per model (under 15USD) to cover time taken out of my own store work. Please note current plans are to keep this free as long as possible.
I have been a 2D concept artist for over 13 years as well as modelled on and off for 9-10 years with over 5 years experience with unity and avatar creation. During this time I have worked with people outside of the VR space as well on 3D projects.
I also teach 3D and 2D to people as well.
