This is a personal story. I started selling online with print on demand. I followed the advice of a coach and lost a lot of money. My very first business was a failure.
My first mistake: I created this business for me. I realized late in the game that people didn't like my t-shirt designs. When I designed them, I designed them for me and not for others.
My second mistake: I didn't take the time to learn how to use ads platforms properly I used every platform possible: Facebook ads( Facebook and Instagram), Google ads, Tiktok ads, Pinterest ads. I didn't want to get scammed, instead of using my money to learn, I wasted it on gambling.
My third mistake: I was paying per month for my Shopify site with lots of options, when I hadn't even made $1. There are imperative expenses and others that can wait.
My fourth mistake: I underestimated the energy it takes to create something. A business is like a child. When you have the idea of the business, you are in gestation, then when you execute the idea, you give birth to your baby. And the hardest part is still to come.
My fifth mistake: These are my own mistakes. I listened to the advice of this coach halfway, I applied what I wanted and the rest I judged that I did not need. It's all my fault.
- It's not the coach's fault: when you're an entrepreneur you accept your failures and you don't put the blame on others.
- Don't be stubborn: when you assume that you know everything, you know nothing. We never stop learning.
- Do not be impatient
- Don't jump on every passing train: there are plenty of ways to make money on the Internet, but not everything is made for you.
- Work hard ≠ make money: you can put all the effort in the world if what you do is not good, you will make very little money.
