From Many Floors to Many Lessons: Turning Work into Wisdom
Before Authentic Glow Coaching, my path wove through an incredible mix of places: Marshalls, Big Lots, Kroger, Meijer, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Gabe’s, Bob Evans, and Open Doors Academy. On paper, they may look like “just jobs.” But in reality, each one carried seeds that would later grow into my coaching philosophy and my ability to serve clients with authenticity.
🌱 What Each Floor Taught Me
- Marshalls — The beauty of presentation. I learned that how you display something matters as much as what you offer. And offers matter. What we do matters just as much honestly because just when people seemed a certain way it was not what we thought it was. And that in and of self was a way to make sure that we know we do not get to just go off and say whatever. And as soon as oh how the others assume it's okay and it's not. Boy say Goodbye now they watch, clock, and make sure they are well aware of how much others do or are not doing. And that in and of its own self will allow you to see and know what takes place as a form of acknowledging, or not, really, it's a personal decision, and thought process.
- Big Lots — The importance of value. People want good deals, but also a good experience. Thinking back to this one it was just as much as the last ones and that wasn't even the haft of it and the loreal live kicker part was north that is just a slur into the ways of those who love to not choose..., to even go ahead then choose to listen so yeah imagine that in a nutshell.
- Kroger & Meijer — Consistency. Customers return because they trust you’ll deliver the same quality every time. And when so yes and guess what else it will take another sip of that juice that makes you want to make sure that you're not really there for all of that and when they are you just simply Leave.
- Cleveland Museum of Art — Inspiration lives in creativity. Every masterpiece taught me to see beyond the obvious.
- Gabe’s — Adaptability. Fast pace and constant change taught me to think on my feet.
- Bob Evans — Hospitality. Serving meals gave me the heart of service I now extend to clients.
- Open Doors Academy — Mentorship matters. Guiding youth reminded me that leadership is about opening doors for others.
✨ The Business Lesson
Every single place trained me in a skill I still use today: presentation, value, consistency, creativity, adaptability, service, and mentorship.
When we think of our floors as “just jobs,” we miss the hidden curriculum they carry. But when we reframe them, they become proof that we were always in training for our flourishing.
🌸 Flourishing Through Your Floors
Your own business story might be built on jobs you once overlooked. Ask yourself:
- What role did that “random job” play in shaping who I am today?
- How can I translate those skills into the way I run my business now?
- Which lessons from my past can actually set me apart in my industry?
💡 Coaching Reflection
“The jobs I once dismissed are the very experiences that make me powerful today.”
✨ Flourish Forward
From Marshalls to the museum, from grocery aisles to guiding students—every floor added to my toolkit. And now, in Authentic Glow Coaching, I use those lessons to help clients flourish by seeing the value in their own journeys.
Affirmation for Today:
