Short Form Blog #006 — Love
Love shows up everywhere in my life, from the softest moments to the loudest ones. I’ve always been a romance girl, and Valentine’s Day brings that out of me in full color. I can already see the version of my future where I walk into a room filled with a dozen red roses—the kind that stops you in your tracks and sends chills down your spine. A quiet room, just me and my man, connecting without the world interrupting. That’s the kind of intimacy I adore.
And let me be honest: I love my man, but he is frugal. Meanwhile, I love luxury. I will break a pocket if the moment calls for it, and he knows it. I’m gentle with him, but hubby? Hubby is not getting a budget-friendly version of me. I want the whole experience, the full romance, the softness, the flowers, the effort. And he’ll get it, because love deserves that.
I love my mom deeply, and it hurts to see anyone treat her poorly. I love my daughter, and well yup I love the fact that I get to be a writer. There’s something magical about silence, a warm café around the corner, and the feeling of creating something from nothing. Writing is pure. It doesn’t twist feelings into drama—it turns them into art. As I grow older, I appreciate that energy more. It gives me space to be a better woman, a better partner, a better mother, and a happier person overall.
I love a good YouTube playlist, a good halftime show, a good class in school, and the joy of graduation season. I loved high school and cheerleading—those were the GOAT days. Growing up taught me skills, but it also revealed which friends were real. That, too, was rooted in love.
Love means I’m happy. Love means my husband, my professors, my guidance, and my circle help me stay grounded. A good friend is everything. Church and God have carried me through moments where I had to get on my knees and pray. Marilyn Monroe once said she spent years on her knees—whether for sex or prayer, she had to choose. Me? I choose prayer. Prayer is love.
Love has helped me heal. It’s helped me spend wisely, live healthier, and dream about marriage in a way that feels real. I love money, travel, art shows, galleries, speeches, beautiful women, beautiful places, beautiful things. When people lie or life gets heavy, I go to YouTube, find the right playlist, and let love pull me forward.
Love made me a fighter too—literally. Go to kickboxing classes.
