My name is Aleasha Edis, and I like to think of myself as a Mary Poppins bag in human form. I am a First-Time Mother, a Pre-School Teacher, a Marriage Celebrant, and now the author of a Picture Book. I currently live in Darwin, Northern Territory, with my husband Eddie and my son Darby.
Together We Will Find the Sun follows two characters – an inquisitive little dingo named Darby and his emotionally vulnerable mother. Darby’s mother speaks honestly with her son of her experience with post-natal depression and how important it is to seek help, link in with family and friends and to actively put one foot in front of the other when a dip occurs in ones’ mental health
I decided to write Together We Will Find the Sun whilst on maternity leave. I was experiencing poor mental health and found so much happiness in reading picture books with Darby. I hope this book promotes meaningful conversations amongst families.
