It's a fact - reusable menstrual products are more comfortable. Period.
SAY HELLO TO
Leak free, comfortable periods
There are several reasons you might want to think about switching to reusable period products. In this blog post, we'll take a look at some of the main reasons to make the change for good.
The UK throws away around 4.3 billion menstrual products PER YEAR.
Why Switch?
For Environmental Reasons
One of the main reasons people are ditching the branded disposable goods and reaching for reusable menstrual products is the huge waste factor. Not getting stuck with plastic yack in the bin is a definite benefit!
For Money Saving Reasons
Most menstruating people will spend around £10 per month on disposables. That's £120 a year which goes straight in the bin! Although there is an upfront cost to buying reusable versions, the overall saving can be much greater.
For Health Reasons
From a personal point of view, reusable period products have meant much less pain and discomfort than toxin filled plastic disposable ones. Reusable pads (also sometimes called CSP) are often made from organic materials with natural fibres - some even use recycled materials too.
Period Poverty
Many menstruating people the world over struggle to access period products due to various reasons. In the UK, it is estimated that 1 in 10 young people can't afford period products, and 42% of people have used makeshift period products because they couldn't afford to buy them.
With reusable products, one pad or pair of pants can be reused for at least 4-5 years, while a silicone menstrual cup can be used for around 10 years.
Menstrual Cups
While they can take a little while to get used to, switching to a menstrual cup can save you a ton of money and waste over its 10 year life. That's over 120 periods and the equivalent of 3,000 tampons!
One cup can hold the equivalent of 3-4 tampons and can be worn for up to 12 hours a day. Stress free for swimming, exercise and even when you're sleeping, they're a great solution for consistently leak free periods.
Cloth Pads
If you're not into the idea of cup insertion, then you can always opt for the trusty cloth pad. Most will last for up to 5 years and come in a variety of colours, sizes and absorbency. They can be used in conjunction with cups for extra security.

Sanitary isn't sanitary
Why are they called sanitary pads? Well, we don't think they should be...
There's nothing 'sanitary' about disposable ones either! Wrapping them in single-use plastic doesn't make them any more so. Reusable period products are perfectly fine to use; just rinse them after use in cold water and then add them to your next wash load. Dry on the line and they're ready for your next monthly visit - simple!
