iHi! I'm Carrie Kellenberger, a disabled Canadian author and artist living in Taiwan. I work with many forms of art from paper-cutting and collages to graphic design, jewelry design, Ikebana floral arrangements, and more! I’ve made a living from writing and art for over three decades.
Welcome to my Art Studio and welcome to My Several Worlds!
I feel very blessed to have 30 years of art designs to my name. My work has been featured in Ottawa, Canada; Changchun and Beijing in China, and in Taiwan.
Many people are shocked to learn that I create from bed. I've been housebound for close to 10 years and can rarely leave my home. When I do leave my home, I'm limited to 90 minutes to 2 hours before I start to get sick and crash.
I’ve been crafting stories in paper all my life through writing and art.
In the past eight years I've gotten into unique 3D collages that are up-cycled from coloring books. I've been coloring since 2015 and have completed 50+ coloring books from bed.
I call them Flare Books and they represent time spent in bed being sick with Axial Spondyloarthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, and MECFS.
In 2023, I learned I have a new autoimmune blood clotting disorder that makes me high risk for blood clots, heart attack, and stroke. That summer, I picked up a pair of scissors and started cutting up my coloring books.
Suddenly I found myself in a world of color - an explosion of paper that created a colorful world next to the chaos of my health.
As I've expanded on my artwork, I've received many suggestions from friends. Quite a few friends thought I wasn't charging enough for my collages. They thought they were buying all occasion cards and they didn't realize these are framed pieces of artwork.
That's when I started creating simple collages through to complex collages. I adjusted my prices accordingly to ensure there is something affordable here for everyone. I call them little moments of joy and they're meant to brighten a room, a book nook, a senior's room, or even a hospital room.
I figured out a way to frame my collages on paper and then added a 3D effect to make them pop off the page. They're protected in their clear display envelope, but they look really nice framed too.
When customers started sending me images of how they framed their collages, I was shocked. I couldn't believe how creative people have gotten with them.
