Above the Drama
Prayer & Intercession — May 11, 2026
Sometimes God doesn’t immediately remove you from a situation.
Sometimes He changes where you’re looking at it from.
During this livestream, I shared an experience in which I felt the Lord take me “up in the spirit.” The situation itself had been difficult, but suddenly my perspective changed.
The drama was still down there.
But my emotions didn’t have to live down there with it.
That shift taught me something:
Not every battle requires us to become emotionally entangled in the battle.
Sometimes God wants to bring us above the drama.
Let Your Goal Be to Please God
Proverbs 16:7 says:
“When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
— Proverbs 16:7 KJV
Notice where the emphasis begins.
Not with the enemies.
With the Lord.
Our assignment isn’t to spend our lives trying to control everyone who opposes us.
We don’t have to convince everybody.
We don’t have to chase every accusation.
We don’t have to monitor every enemy.
We don’t have to win every argument.
Our responsibility is much simpler:
Live in a way that pleases God.
Then allow Him to handle what surrounds us.
Faith Pleases Him
Hebrews 11:6 tells us:
“But without faith it is impossible to please him…”
So if our desire is to please God, faith cannot be optional.
Faith says:
God sees this.
Faith says:
God knows what He’s doing.
Faith says:
I don’t have to understand everything to obey Him.
Faith says:
I don’t have to control the outcome.
And sometimes faith looks like refusing to climb back down into drama God has already lifted you above.

A Higher Perspective
There are situations that look completely different when God changes your perspective.
When we’re emotionally attached to conflict, every development feels enormous.
Every comment matters.
Every person’s behavior demands our attention.
Every new problem feels personal.
But when God changes our perspective, we begin to see differently.
What once consumed us becomes smaller.
Not necessarily because the situation changed—
but because our position did.
Sometimes peace isn’t God removing the battle.
Sometimes peace is God removing the battle from you.
If God Is for Us
Romans 8 asks:
“If God be for us, who can be against us?”
— Romans 8:31 KJV
That doesn’t mean nobody will oppose us.
It means opposition doesn’t have the authority to overturn God’s purposes.
Romans 8 continues by reminding us that God justifies His people and that Christ intercedes for us.
So why live as though every accusation gets a vote?
Why allow opposition to define our identity?
Why spend all of our energy defending something God has already justified?
If God is for you, you can stop living as though everybody else has to be.
No Weapon Gets the Final Word
Isaiah 54 tells us that no weapon formed against God’s people will prosper.
Notice that Scripture doesn’t say weapons won’t form.
Sometimes they do.
Opposition happens.
Conflict happens.
Misunderstanding happens.
Spiritual warfare happens.
But formation is not the same as victory.
We don’t have to make a weapon bigger by giving it all of our attention.
God is still God.
Pray for Your Enemies
And then comes the Kingdom response that our flesh may not particularly enjoy:
Pray for them. 🤣
During this livestream, I prayed for people operating in opposition, including those involved in witchcraft or other practices I believe oppose God’s purposes.
But the prayer wasn’t simply:
“God, get them.”
It was:
God, save them.
Heal them.
Deliver them.
Transform them.
Let the people who once fought against the Gospel become people who proclaim Jesus.
That’s a completely different posture.
When you’re constantly staring at an enemy, it’s easy to forget that Jesus died for them too.
What if the person opposing you today becomes an evangelist tomorrow?
What if their testimony becomes evidence of the mercy of God?
Kingdom intercession doesn’t merely ask God to stop an enemy.
Sometimes it asks Him to transform one.
Walk in the Light
First John 1:7 reminds us that if we walk in the light, the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin.
Our security isn’t based on our own perfection.
Our confidence is in Jesus.
When we stumble, we come into the light.
When God corrects us, we repent.
When He exposes something in our hearts, we surrender it.
We don’t have to live buried under guilt.
Jesus already paid for our freedom.
Remember Your Inheritance
We are not spiritual beggars trying to persuade God to notice us.
In Christ, we are heirs.
Romans 8 establishes our identity in a God who justifies, keeps, and loves His people.
There are things Christ has already made available to us that we need to stop forfeiting because we’re distracted by warfare.
Peace is part of our inheritance.
Freedom is part of our inheritance.
Relationship with God is part of our inheritance.
And sometimes we’re so busy looking at what the enemy is doing that we’ve forgotten to look at what Jesus has already done.
Present Yourself to God
Romans 12 calls us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice and to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
Transformation changes perspective.
We stop thinking according to the world’s patterns.
We stop responding automatically.
We stop allowing every circumstance to dictate our emotional state.
And we begin asking:
Lord, how do You see this?
That question can change everything.
The Wilderness Teaches Dependence
Deuteronomy 8 reminds us that wilderness seasons have lessons.
They expose what is in our hearts.
They teach dependence.
They remind us that we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
Sometimes the wilderness strips away the illusion that we can manage everything ourselves.
And eventually we discover:
God was enough the whole time.
Come Up Higher
Maybe the circumstances haven’t changed yet.
Maybe the people haven’t changed yet.
Maybe there is still warfare.
But perhaps God is changing you.
Perhaps He’s breaking your emotional attachment to the drama.
Perhaps He’s teaching you to pray instead of retaliate.
Perhaps He’s showing you that you don’t have to descend into every battle simply because somebody invited you.
You can stay in the light.
You can walk by faith.
You can pray for your enemies.
You can renew your mind.
You can live to please God.
And you can allow Him to give you a perspective that conflict cannot control.
Come up higher.
There’s a whole different view from above the drama.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, teach us to live lives that please You.
Give us faith to trust You when circumstances are difficult and when we cannot see what You are doing.
Renew our minds and change our perspective.
Break unhealthy emotional attachments to conflict, offense, fear, and drama.
Help us recognize that we do not have to participate in every battle presented to us.
We pray for those who oppose us. Save, heal, deliver, and transform them. Let people who once resisted Your purposes become powerful witnesses of the grace of Jesus Christ.
Teach us to walk in the light, remember our inheritance, and remain confident that if You are for us, opposition cannot overturn Your purposes.
Lift our eyes above the battle.

Am I asking God to change the situation when He may first be trying to change my perspective?
And before you climb back into something God has already lifted you above:
