DECIDE AND DECREE
When the Word of God Becomes a Sword - September 10, 2026
There are moments when I go LIVE with a message already prepared.
And then there are moments when I simply show up.
I pray.
I praise.
I listen.
And I allow the Holy Spirit to lead.
This livestream became one of those moments.
What began with prayer and spiritual warfare unfolded into a deeper teaching about authority, the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, spiritual warfare, and the manifestation of Christ in the life of the believer.
The more I listened, the more one truth continued to rise to the surface:
We have been given something to say.
Not our own opinions.
Not empty declarations.
Not words spoken from fear.
The Word of God.
DECIDE AND DECREE
One of the foundational Scriptures for this livestream was Job 22:28:
“You will also decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you; and the light of God’s favor will shine upon your ways.”
There is something powerful about understanding the difference between speaking from ourselves and speaking in agreement with God.
The believer has been given a voice.
But that voice is meant to come into alignment with the Word.
When God has spoken, we do not have to negotiate with fear.
We can agree with Him.
We can speak what He has said.
We can decide and decree according to His Word.
This is not about attempting to control God or manufacture an outcome.
It is about bringing our words into agreement with His truth.
THE SWORD IN YOUR MOUTH
Psalm 149:6 says:
“May the high praises of God be in your mouth and a double-edged sword in your hands.”
That picture stayed with me.
Praise in the mouth.
A sword in the hand.
And throughout Scripture, we see that the Word of God is not passive.
It confronts darkness.
It exposes lies.
It strengthens faith.
It gives direction.
It reminds us who God is and who we are in Him.
During the livestream, I connected this with the account in 2 Chronicles 20, where Judah sent singers and praisers before the army.
They went into battle praising God.
That is a different kind of warfare.
Sometimes the battle begins to shift when our focus shifts—from what the enemy is doing to who God is.
Our praise declares that God is still God.
Our worship declares that He is worthy.
And His Word gives us something solid to stand on.
THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVES POWER
Another foundational Scripture was Acts 1:8:
“But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses…”
The Holy Spirit is not simply an experience.
He empowers us to be witnesses for Christ.
That means the power we receive has a purpose.
We are empowered to represent Jesus.
To testify.
To stand.
To speak.
To live differently.
To carry His presence into places where His truth needs to be seen and heard.
The Holy Spirit does not make us independent of God.
He brings us into deeper dependence upon Him.
SPIRITUAL WARFARE REQUIRES VIGILANCE
As the livestream continued, the conversation moved deeper into spiritual warfare.
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us:
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood…”
That changes the way we see conflict.
Not every battle should be fought with human weapons.
Not every situation requires a human reaction.
Sometimes we need to recognize the spiritual dimension and respond spiritually.
That means remaining watchful.
Closing doors.
Guarding what we allow into our lives.
Refusing to surrender ground to fear, skepticism, unbelief, or confusion.
And most importantly, remembering that our confidence is not in ourselves.
It is in Christ.
YOU HAVE 66 BOOKS OF AMMUNITION
At one point in the livestream, I described the Bible as having 66 books worth of ammunition.
Think about that.
God has not left us empty-handed.
We have Scripture.
Promises.
Instructions.
Warnings.
Wisdom.
Prophecy.
Testimony.
History.
Revelation.
From Genesis to Revelation, we have a record of God’s dealings with humanity and His unfolding plan of redemption.
When the enemy whispers, the Word answers.
When fear speaks, the Word answers.
When circumstances contradict what God has said, the Word gives us something greater than circumstances to stand upon.
We do not have to invent ammunition.
We have the Word.
WHEN THE THIEF STEALS
Proverbs 6:30 became another interesting part of the teaching as we discussed restitution and the thief.
The principle of repayment brought another question to the surface:
What have you allowed to be stolen?
Peace?
Joy?
Time?
Hope?
Purpose?
Confidence?
Relationships?
Resources?
Sometimes spiritual warfare is not simply about recognizing what is happening now.
It is also about recognizing what has been lost.
And then bringing those things before God.
Proverbs speaks of sevenfold restitution.
But Job 42:2 brings us back to the sovereignty of God:
“I know that You can do all things, and that no thought or purpose of Yours can be restrained.”
That is where faith becomes powerful.
God is not limited by what we can see.
AUTHORITY OVER THE POWER OF THE ENEMY
Luke 10:19 was also part of this teaching:
“Behold, I have given you authority…”
Authority matters.
But biblical authority is never disconnected from relationship with Jesus.
The authority belongs to Christ.
We operate under His authority.
That distinction is important.
We are not the source.
He is.
We are not the King.
He is.
We are not the Holy One.
He is.
And yet, He has chosen to give His people authority to walk in obedience to Him.
That is both powerful and humbling.
THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL
As the livestream unfolded, the teaching moved into the significance of the name and title:
The Holy One of Israel.
Isaiah repeatedly uses this title, and we explored passages including Isaiah 43:3, Isaiah 47:4, Isaiah 54:5, Isaiah 48:17, Isaiah 30:15, and Isaiah 12:6.
There is something profound about the holiness of God.
He is not simply powerful.
He is holy.
He is not simply able to deliver.
He is righteous.
He is not merely a source of blessings.
He is God.
And when we understand who He is, our understanding of authority changes.
The goal is not simply to get something from God.
The goal is to know God.
SPIRIT, SOUL, AND BODY
Near the end of the teaching, we came to 1 Thessalonians 5:23–24:
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through…”
This became a beautiful picture of God’s desire for wholeness.
Spirit.
Soul.
Body.
God is interested in the whole person.
He is not simply concerned with what we do publicly.
He cares about what is happening internally.
Our thoughts.
Our emotions.
Our motives.
Our bodies.
Our spiritual lives.
Our becoming.
And the passage ends with a promise:
“Faithful is He who calls you, and He will do it.”
There is the comfort.
He calls.
He sanctifies.
He completes.
He does the work.
A SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION
The livestream eventually led into prayer from Ephesians 1:17:
“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation…”
That prayer feels like the perfect place to land.
Because revelation is not simply receiving more information.
It is seeing God more clearly.
Knowing Him more deeply.
Understanding what He is saying.
Recognizing what He is doing.
And learning how to respond.
I don’t want revelation just so I can say I received revelation.
I want revelation that produces obedience.
I want wisdom that changes how I live.
I want the Word to become more than something I quote.
I want it to become something I walk out.
THIS IS THE INVITATION
Perhaps the greatest takeaway from this livestream is not simply:
“Decide and decree.”
It is:
Find out what God has said—and come into agreement with Him.
Let your mouth carry praise.
Let your heart remain surrendered.
Let the Holy Spirit empower your witness.
Let the Word become your sword.
Stay awake.
Guard your gates.
Close doors.
Refuse fear.
Stand in the authority Christ has given you.
And remember that the battle is not ultimately about proving how powerful we are.
It is about revealing how faithful He is.
So when you speak, speak His Word.
When you pray, pray according to His heart.
When you praise, praise before you see the outcome.
When you face warfare, remember who your King is.
And when you don’t know what to do next—
listen.
Because the Holy One of Israel is still speaking.
And sometimes the greatest act of faith is simply to hear Him…
and obey.
DECIDE.
DECREE.
STAND.
BELIEVE.
AND LET THE LIGHT OF GOD’S FAVOR SHINE UPON YOUR WAY.
