FIGHT WITH THE WORD
Praise, Prophecy & the Good Fight of Faith - May 27,2026
There are battles you cannot win by thinking harder.
You cannot analyze your way through everything.
You cannot Google enough.
You cannot call enough people.
You cannot hold enough committee meetings.
And thankfully—
the committee has already been fired.

Some battles require something entirely different:
A word from God.
During this livestream, I kept returning to the importance of maintaining fellowship with God because there are moments when one word from Him can give you the wisdom, direction, correction, or strategy you need.
Not necessarily a spectacular experience.
Sometimes the instruction is remarkably simple.
Wait.
Move.
Call.
Don’t call.
Apologize.
Forgive.
Go.
Stay.
Praise.
Be quiet.
But if God is directing us, the simplicity of the instruction doesn’t diminish the importance of our obedience.
Stay Close Enough to Hear
We often want God to give us a ten-year strategy.
Meanwhile, He may be giving us today’s instruction.
And we can become so concerned about what’s happening next month that we miss what He’s saying right now.
This is why fellowship with God matters.
Prayer isn’t merely where we present God with our requests.
It’s relationship.
It’s communion.
It’s where our hearts are corrected, our perspective changes, our fears are confronted, and Scripture comes alive in ways that speak directly to where we are.
The goal isn’t to become obsessed with trying to detect a supernatural message behind every ordinary decision.
We remain grounded in Scripture, wisdom, and sound judgment.
But we also don’t want to become so self-reliant that we stop asking:
“Lord, what would You have me do?”
Fight the Good Fight
Paul told Timothy to wage the good warfare according to the prophecies previously made concerning him.
That means there may be moments when what God has said and what you currently see appear to contradict one another.
And that’s where faith gets tested.
God said one thing.
The circumstances are saying another.
God gave a promise.
Time passed.
God gave direction.
Resistance came.
God called you.
Then you discovered that being called doesn’t mean being comfortable.

Welcome.
And faith says:
I will not allow temporary circumstances to have the final word over what God has spoken.
But Test What You Believe You’ve Heard
There’s an important guardrail here.
Not every strong desire is prophecy.
Not every thought is God’s voice.
Not every encouraging word someone speaks over us should automatically become doctrine for our lives.
Scripture tells believers to test things.
So when we believe God has spoken, we bring it back to Him.
Does it agree with Scripture?
Does it reflect the character of Christ?
Does it produce obedience to God rather than glorification of self?
Can it withstand prayer, time, and wise counsel?
Faith isn’t pretending that every thought we have came from Heaven.
Faith is learning to recognize God while remaining humble enough to say:
“Lord, correct me if I’m wrong.”
That’s maturity.
Keep the Receipts
But when God has spoken—
remember.
Write it down.
Remember what He told you.
Remember what He taught you.
Remember what He already brought you through.
Remember the prayers He answered.
Remember the doors He closed that later made sense.
Remember the provision.
Remember the correction.
Remember the mercy.
Remember the confirmations.
Because sometimes the battle isn’t getting another word.
Sometimes the battle is remembering the word you already received.
That is why testimony matters.
And apparently why we now have an entire Prophetic Ledger.

Send Praise First
Then we arrive at 2 Chronicles 20.
And I LOVE this picture.
Judah is facing an enemy they cannot defeat in their own strength.
Jehoshaphat seeks the Lord.
God gives direction.
And then something happens that makes absolutely no military sense.
The singers go first.
🤣
Imagine being selected.
“Congratulations! You’ve been chosen for the front line.”
Wonderful. Where’s my sword?
“No sword. Here’s your tambourine.”
😭🤣
But as they began praising God, Scripture says the Lord set ambushes against their enemies.
Their praise wasn’t pretending there wasn’t a battle.
Praise declared that the battle was not greater than their God.
Praise Changes Your Position
Sometimes we think praise is simply our emotional response after God does something wonderful.
And yes—
praise Him afterward.
Absolutely.
But there’s another kind of praise.
Praise before you see it.
Praise while you’re waiting.
Praise when you don’t understand.
Praise when circumstances haven’t moved.
Praise when you have questions.
Praise when the clock—

Oh yes.
WE STILL HAVE CLOCKS.

—says you’ve been waiting longer than you expected.
Praise isn’t denial.
It’s alignment.
You’re reminding your own soul:
God is still God here.
Your Worship Is Not Wasted
That’s why singing has mattered so much in these livestreams.
Sometimes worship isn’t the introduction before the “real” ministry begins.
Worship is ministry.
Sometimes the song is the warfare.
Sometimes worship quiets the noise long enough for you to hear.
Sometimes praise breaks your fixation on the problem.
Sometimes singing Scripture reminds your heart of something your emotions temporarily forgot.
You walked into prayer thinking:
“Look at this enormous problem.”
And worship slowly turns you until you’re saying:
“Look at my enormous God.”
That’s a completely different posture.
Don’t Let the Enemy Steal Your Inheritance
First Corinthians 3 says:
“All things are yours.”
That isn’t permission for believers to claim anything they want.
It points to the astonishing inheritance believers have in Christ.
Our inheritance isn’t independent of Jesus.
It exists because we belong to Him.
That’s the pattern we’ve been seeing again and again:
Authority?
Through Jesus.
Inheritance?
Through Jesus.
Victory?
Through Jesus.
Access to the Father?
Through Jesus.
Salvation?
Through Jesus.

GET THE FINGER.

The foam finger has been summoned.
#1 JESUS.
Because if a teaching about spiritual inheritance ends with us becoming impressed with ourselves, we missed the inheritance.
The treasure is Christ.
More Than 7,000 Promises?
During the livestream, I referred to believers having access to more than 7,000 promises in Scripture.
You’ll sometimes hear different numbers attached to the promises in the Bible because the total depends heavily on how someone defines and counts a “promise.”
So I wouldn’t make the exact number the theological point.
The greater truth is undeniable:
Scripture is overflowing with the faithfulness of God.
And we don’t need to inflate the number to make His faithfulness impressive.
He has already given us plenty to stand on.
Romans 8:28 Doesn’t Mean Everything Feels Good
Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
It doesn’t say everything is good.
Some things hurt.
Some things are unjust.
Some things we would never voluntarily choose.
Faith doesn’t require us to rename painful things as pleasant.
Instead, faith says:
God is capable of working even here.
Nothing catches Him without resources.
Nothing enters our story that makes Him say:
“Well… I hadn’t planned for that.”

He remains God.
Clean Hands—AGAIN
And would you look who has arrived.
JOB 22:30.

At this point Job 22:30 has its own parking space.
Once again, we return to the relationship between intercession and clean hands.
Because God isn’t merely teaching us how to fight.
He’s teaching us how to fight without becoming what we’re fighting.
That’s huge.
You can become so consumed with darkness that you stop cultivating light.
So focused on what the enemy is doing that you barely talk about what Jesus has done.
So consumed with spiritual warfare that your entire prayer life becomes warfare instead of relationship.
No.
Come back.
Worship.
Love God.
Forgive.
Repent.
Rest.
Laugh.
Serve.
Read the Word.
Take communion.
Enjoy your life.

Empty Hell and Fill Heaven
During this livestream, I prayed for something that continues to burn in my heart:
Empty hell and fill Heaven.
That brings everything back into perspective.
Why fight the good fight?
Why maintain clean hands?
Why pray?
Why praise?
Why learn Scripture?
Why intercede?
Why care about our inheritance?
Why refuse distraction?
Because this isn’t ultimately about becoming spiritually impressive.
People need Jesus.
Billions of them.
😍
There it is again.
The Great Commission changes how we see spiritual warfare.
The goal isn’t merely:
“Leave me alone, devil.”
It’s bigger.
There are people who need the Gospel.
Families that need prayer.
People trapped in darkness who need freedom.
People who may currently oppose Christianity who could one day become passionate witnesses for Christ.
We don’t know who God may save.
So we pray.
No Weapon Formed Against You
Isaiah 54 doesn’t promise that weapons will never form.
That’s an important distinction.
They form.
Opposition happens.
Trouble comes.
Jesus never promised His followers a resistance-free life.
The promise points toward God’s ultimate faithfulness and vindication.
So faith doesn’t say:
“There is no weapon.”
Faith says:
“The weapon doesn’t get the final word.”
And that changes how you stand.
Sometimes the Strategy Is a Song
Maybe you’ve been trying to solve something God is asking you to surrender.
Maybe you’ve been talking about the battle more than you’ve been talking to God.
Maybe you’re exhausted because you’ve been attempting to fight with your own intelligence.
Maybe you’re waiting for a complicated strategy.
And perhaps today’s instruction is remarkably simple:
Praise Me.
Not because the battle isn’t real.
Not because you don’t need practical action.
Not because praise replaces wisdom, counsel, medicine, work, planning, or responsible decisions.
But because none of those things were ever meant to replace God.
So do what He tells you to do.
And while you’re doing it—
sing.
FIGHT WITH THE WORD.
Remember what God has said.
Test everything.
Hold tightly to what is true.
Keep your hands clean.
Refuse distraction.
Praise before you see the outcome.
And when circumstances start screaming louder than the promise—
go back to the Word.
Because sometimes the most powerful thing you can carry onto the battlefield isn’t another argument.
It’s a song.
Closing Prayer
Father, teach us to fight the good fight of faith while remaining close to You. Keep us from becoming so focused on battles that we neglect fellowship with You. Help us recognize Your voice through Scripture and the leading of Your Spirit, and give us humility to test what we believe we’ve heard. Remind us of Your faithfulness when circumstances tempt us to doubt. Put praise in our mouths before we see the victory. Keep our hands clean, our hearts tender, and our attention fixed on Jesus. Teach us to use everything You have entrusted to us for the Gospel, and draw multitudes from darkness into the Kingdom of Your beloved Son. In Jesus’ name, amen.
