KEEP IT SIMPLE
Hear and Obey - September 14, 2026
“Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.”
— Deuteronomy 8:6 KJV
Sometimes we make walking with God far more complicated than He intended it to be.
We search for another strategy.
Another confirmation.
Another sign.
Another person to tell us what God already said.
But as I entered this new season, the instruction of the Lord became increasingly simple:
HEAR AND OBEY.
Stay close.
Stay surrendered.
Stay available.
Keep your heart sincere before Him.
And do not allow distractions to complicate what God has made plain.
DON’T FORGET ABOUT ME
During this teaching, something rather unexpected came to mind: the band Simple Minds and the phrase from their well-known song:
“Don’t you forget about me.”
Simple Minds.
Keep it simple.
Don’t forget about Me.
That became a beautiful picture of what the Lord was emphasizing to me.
Because isn’t that one of humanity’s oldest problems?
We remember God when we need deliverance.
We remember Him in the wilderness.
We remember Him when the money is low.
We remember Him when the diagnosis comes.
We remember Him when the door will not open.
We remember Him when we desperately need an answer.
But what happens when the prayer is answered?
What happens when the wilderness ends?
What happens when the provision arrives?
What happens when the business grows?
What happens when the platform expands?
What happens when the blessing we prayed for becomes our everyday life?
DON’T FORGET THE LORD.
That is precisely the warning we find in Deuteronomy 8.
REMEMBER THE WILDERNESS
God told Israel:
“And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness…”
— Deuteronomy 8:2 KJV
Notice the word:
Remember.
The wilderness was not meaningless.
God was leading them.
Teaching them.
Testing their hearts.
Revealing what was inside them.
Teaching them dependence.
There are seasons we want to forget because they were painful, but sometimes God tells us to remember—not so that we remain trapped in the pain, but so that we never forget Who carried us through it.
Remember where He found you.
Remember what He delivered you from.
Remember the prayers nobody heard but Him.
Remember the doors He opened.
Remember the doors He closed.
Remember the provision.
Remember the protection.
Remember the correction.
Remember the mercy.
Remember the wilderness.
And most importantly:
REMEMBER YOUR GOD.
WHEN THE BLESSING COMES
Deuteronomy 8 contains an extraordinary warning.
God knew that prosperity would present Israel with a temptation that adversity did not.
When they entered good land…
When their herds multiplied…
When their silver and gold multiplied…
When everything they possessed increased…
There was danger.
Not merely from an enemy outside of them.
There was danger within their own hearts.
They might begin to say:
I did this.
My talent did this.
My education did this.
My strategy did this.
My connections did this.
My business skills did this.
My platform did this.
My intelligence did this.
My hard work did this.
But Scripture says:
“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth…”
— Deuteronomy 8:18 KJV
Yes, work.
Yes, steward.
Yes, build.
Yes, create.
Yes, develop the gift God gave you.
But never confuse stewardship with Source.
GOD IS THE SOURCE.
If He gave the idea, remember Him.
If He opened the door, remember Him.
If He provided the resources, remember Him.
If He sent the people, remember Him.
If He increased the influence, remember Him.
If He gave you the ability to produce wealth—
remember Him.
THE WARNING IS REAL
Deuteronomy 8 does not end with prosperity.
It ends with a warning.
God tells Israel that if they forget Him and begin following other gods, there will be consequences.
That matters.
Because success can become an idol.
Money can become an idol.
Influence can become an idol.
Ministry can even become an idol if we become more fascinated with what we are doing for God than with God Himself.
The blessing must never replace the Blesser.
The assignment must never replace the One who assigned it.
The revelation must never become more important than the One revealing it.
The ministry must never become more important than Jesus.
KEEP IT SIMPLE.
Love Him.
Hear Him.
Obey Him.
Remember Him.
WHY THE BLOG?
During this livestream, I also shared something new the Lord was leading me to do:
Start documenting.
There have been revelations.
Prayer decrees.
Teachings.
Confirmations.
What I sometimes call receipts—those moments when something God has been speaking becomes visible, confirmed, or connected in a way worth remembering and prayerfully examining.
Instead of allowing those moments to disappear when a livestream ends, I felt led to begin creating a place where they could be documented.
That is part of the reason you are reading this blog.
I want you to be able to return.
Read.
Study.
Pray.
Search the Scriptures.
Take what was shared during the livestream back into your own quiet time with God.
These resources are not meant to replace your relationship with Him.
They should send you back to Him.
Back to prayer.
Back to Scripture.
Back to listening.
Back to obedience.
DON’T BUILD YOUR FAITH ON MY REVELATION
This is important.
My relationship with God cannot substitute for yours.
My prayer life cannot substitute for yours.
My revelation cannot substitute for yours.
My obedience cannot substitute for yours.
We can encourage one another.
Teach one another.
Pray for one another.
Testify to one another.
But ultimately, every believer must cultivate a sincere relationship with Jesus Christ.
The goal is not for you to become dependent upon a livestream.
The goal is for everything shared here to encourage you to become increasingly dependent upon the Lord.
Hear Him.
Know His Word.
Recognize His voice.
And when He speaks:
OBEY.
A LIVING SACRIFICE
Romans 12 brings this message into everyday life.
Walking with God is not merely about receiving revelation.
It is about becoming a life surrendered to Him.
Paul warns:
“…not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think…”
— Romans 12:3 KJV
There is no room for spiritual pride.
The more God entrusts to us, the more dependent upon Him we should become.
Romans 12 also tells believers to continue “instant in prayer”—steadfast and devoted to prayer.
And then Paul gives us one of the most practical instructions for spiritual warfare:
“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”
— Romans 12:21 KJV
That is Kingdom.
The world says retaliate.
The Kingdom says overcome evil with good.
The flesh says prove yourself.
The Kingdom says humble yourself.
Pride says exalt yourself.
The Kingdom says surrender yourself.
The flesh says complicate it.
The Spirit says:
Follow Me.
STAY INNOCENT
Proverbs says:
“As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.”
— Proverbs 26:2 KJV
There is something powerful about refusing agreement with darkness.
Do not give the enemy common ground through bitterness, rebellion, unforgiveness, pride, deception, or deliberate disobedience.
Remain before God with clean hands and a sincere heart.
If He corrects you, repent.
If He tells you to release something, release it.
If He tells you to forgive, forgive.
If He tells you to move, move.
If He tells you to wait, wait.
Again:
KEEP IT SIMPLE.
STAND IN THE GAP
Our relationship with God does not terminate with us.
We intercede.
Job 22:30 says:
“He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.”
— Job 22:30 KJV
We pray for people who may not yet know how to pray for themselves.
We stand in the gap for families.
For communities.
For cities.
For nations.
For generations.
For billions of souls.
Our prayer is not merely:
Lord, bless me.
It becomes:
Lord, use me.
Use my prayers.
Use my voice.
Use my resources.
Use my testimony.
Use my business.
Use my gifts.
Use my obedience.
Use my life.
SOUND THE ALARM
Toward the end of this teaching, our attention turned to the shofar—the ram’s horn.
Throughout Scripture, the trumpet sound carried significance.
It could announce.
Gather.
Warn.
Call God’s people to attention.
Signal movement.
And the ram’s horn itself carries a powerful picture: something once associated with sacrifice becomes an instrument through which a sound is released.
For the believer, our victory ultimately points us to Jesus Christ and His shed blood.
Our freedom is in Christ.
Our deliverance is in Christ.
Our authority is in Christ.
Our victory over darkness is in Christ.
So when we speak of liberty, deliverance, and victory, our confidence is never in an object.
OUR CONFIDENCE IS IN JESUS.
The shofar may sound.
But Jesus is the Deliverer.
THE BLOOD OF JESUS
There is power in what Jesus accomplished through His death and resurrection.
We do not have to live terrified of darkness.
We belong to Christ.
So we pray boldly.
Over our homes.
Over our families.
Over our children.
Over generations.
Over bloodlines.
We pray against every work of darkness and every influence contrary to the will of God.
We reject fear.
We reject agreement with evil.
We ask the Lord for deliverance, protection, wisdom, discernment, and freedom.
And we place our confidence where it belongs:
IN JESUS CHRIST.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
Maybe the instruction for this season is not another complicated formula.
Maybe it is much simpler.
Remember God.
When He speaks—
listen.
When He instructs—
obey.
When He provides—
remember.
When He blesses—
stay humble.
When He corrects—
repent.
When darkness rises—
overcome evil with good.
When someone needs prayer—
intercede.
When God gives you something worth remembering—
write it down.
And through everything:
DON’T FORGET ABOUT HIM.
KINGDOM REFLECTION
Take this teaching into your quiet time and ask the Lord:
Father, have I complicated something You already made simple?
Is there an instruction You gave me that I still need to obey?
Have I forgotten Your hand in something I now call my accomplishment?
Has any blessing begun occupying a place in my heart that belongs only to You?
What do You want me to remember from my wilderness?
Who are You asking me to stand in the gap for?
Then be still.
Listen.
And when He answers—
KEEP IT SIMPLE.
HEAR AND OBEY.
