MORE THAN A CONQUEROR!
From Bondage to Kingdom Authority - September 4, 2026
Part 1
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
— Romans 8:37 KJV
There is a difference between merely surviving a battle and knowing who you are in Christ while you are standing in the middle of it.
God has not called His people to live perpetually defeated, condemned, bound by the flesh, intimidated by darkness, or governed by the systems of this world.
In Christ, we are more than conquerors.
But this is more than something to quote.
It is an identity we must learn to walk in.
NO CONDEMNATION
Romans 8 became a central foundation for this teaching:
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…”
— Romans 8:1 KJV
The enemy would love to keep people trapped beneath condemnation—constantly looking backward, rehearsing failures, questioning their identity, and believing that their past has greater authority than the finished work of Jesus Christ.
But when we are truly in Christ, something has changed.
We have been brought into a new life.
This does not mean that grace gives us permission to remain in bondage. Quite the opposite. The grace of God empowers us to come out of bondage.
Jesus did not save us so that we could simply place His name over an unchanged life.
He came to transform us.
There cannot be one Jesus whom we receive as Savior and another Jesus whom we decide whether or not to receive as Lord.
Christ cannot be divided.
When we belong to Him, He is Lord.
And Lordship reaches into every area of our lives.
Our thinking.
Our choices.
Our relationships.
Our conversations.
Our habits.
Our desires.
Our priorities.
Our plans.
Everything comes underneath His authority.
COME OUT OF THE BONDAGE OF THE FLESH
Romans 8 draws a clear distinction between living according to the flesh and living according to the Spirit.
The flesh cannot lead us into the freedom God has prepared for us.
We cannot conquer spiritual battles using carnal weapons.
We cannot overcome darkness while continuing to agree with the very thought patterns that keep us bound.
This is why transformation requires a renewed mind.
Some battles are being fought in our thoughts long before they ever manifest in our circumstances.
Fear speaks.
Pride speaks.
Condemnation speaks.
Unbelief speaks.
The opinions of people speak.
Past experiences speak.
But the question becomes:
What has GOD said?
At some point, the Word of God must become louder to us than everything competing against it.
PICK UP YOUR SWORD
The Word of God is not merely inspirational reading.
It is the sword of the Spirit.
When strongholds rise, we answer with truth.
When vain imaginations attempt to exalt themselves against the knowledge of God, we bring those thoughts into captivity.
When the enemy attempts to remind us of an identity that Christ has already crucified, we answer with what God says about who we are now.
There comes a time when believers must stop whispering the Word as though we are uncertain about its authority.
Be bold.
Be unashamed.
Know what God has said.
And use your sword.
The enemy has had enough generations of believers who possessed a Bible but did not understand the authority of the Word contained within it.
We are not called merely to admire the sword.
We must learn how to wield it.
WHOSE KINGDOM HAS YOUR ALLEGIANCE?
One of the deeper questions running throughout this teaching is the question of allegiance.
Where does our loyalty truly rest?
The Kingdom of God cannot simply become another addition to an already crowded life.
Jesus did not call us to fit Him somewhere between our ambitions, relationships, comfort, reputation, possessions, and personal agendas.
He called us to follow Him.
That changes everything.
Luke 14 contains some of Jesus’ strongest language concerning discipleship. He makes it unmistakably clear that no earthly relationship can occupy the place that belongs to Him.
And Jesus said:
“For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
— Matthew 12:50 KJV
Kingdom family is built around the will of the Father.
This is why our minds must be renewed.
When our minds remain conformed to the world, worldly priorities will continue to appear normal—even when they contradict the Kingdom.
But when God renews our minds, we begin seeing life through a different lens.
We stop asking only:
What do I want?
And begin asking:
Father, what do You want?
THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD
Psalm 23 declares:
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
— Psalm 23:1 KJV
What happens when we actually believe that?
What happens when God becomes our Source rather than merely Someone we call when every other source fails?
The Shepherd knows where the provision is.
The Shepherd knows where the still waters are.
The Shepherd knows which path is righteous.
The Shepherd knows what is ahead even when the sheep cannot see it.
Our responsibility is to follow.
There is tremendous freedom in reaching the place where we recognize:
If the Lord is truly my Shepherd, I do not have to live controlled by lack.
I do not have to chase everything the world tells me I need.
I do not have to compromise Kingdom principles because I am afraid there will not be enough.
My Shepherd knows what I need.
ALL THINGS ARE YOURS
Paul gives another powerful Kingdom perspective in 1 Corinthians 3.
After warning believers not to deceive themselves through the wisdom of this world, he writes:
“Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours…”
— 1 Corinthians 3:21 KJV
Think about that.
All things are yours.
Yet so much of the world trains us to live from scarcity, competition, comparison, fear, and striving.
Kingdom thinking is different.
Our confidence is not rooted in worldly wisdom.
Our confidence is not rooted in another person.
Our confidence is not rooted in a system.
Our confidence is rooted in belonging to Christ.
And Christ belongs to God.
When we understand who we belong to, we stop allowing temporary circumstances to define our spiritual position.
BILLIONS FOR CHRIST
This is why the burden for souls remains so strong.
There are billions of people across this earth.
Billions of souls.
Billions of lives known by God.
Billions of people Jesus died for.
And we cannot become so consumed with ourselves that we forget the mission.
During this time of intercession, the cry was for souls to be rescued from the enemy’s camp.
For people to awaken from spiritual slumber.
For deception to break.
For pride to fall.
For blinded eyes to open.
For captives to come out.
This is bigger than building a platform.
Bigger than gaining followers.
Bigger than being known.
Bigger than any one ministry.
This is about the Kingdom of God.
We are praying for billions for Christ.
Not for our glory.
For His.
MORE THAN A CONQUEROR
Romans 8 does not promise a life without difficulty.
It actually acknowledges suffering.
But Scripture gives us perspective:
“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
— Romans 8:18 KJV
The battle is real.
But so is the glory.
The resistance may be real.
But so is the authority of Christ.
The suffering may be real.
But it does not get the final word.
And by the time we arrive near the end of Romans 8, Paul makes this declaration:
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
— Romans 8:37 KJV
Notice that Scripture does not say we are more than conquerors because everything around us is easy.
It says:
IN ALL THESE THINGS.
Right there in the middle of it.
Through Christ.
Because He loved us.
Our victory is not rooted in our strength.
It is rooted in Him.
So lift your head.
Renew your mind.
Pick up your sword.
Come out of agreement with condemnation.
Come out of bondage to the flesh.
Come out of worldly thinking.
Remember who your Shepherd is.
Remember whose Kingdom you belong to.
And remember who God says you are.
YOU ARE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR THROUGH CHRIST WHO LOVES YOU.
Kingdom Reflection
As you spend time with the Lord, ask Him:
Father, is there any area of my life where I am still thinking like someone in bondage instead of someone who belongs to Christ?
Do not rush the answer.
Allow the Holy Spirit to search your heart.
Then open Romans 8 and read it slowly for yourself.
Let the Word renew your mind.
Let truth uproot condemnation.
Let the Holy Spirit show you what it means—not merely to quote that you are more than a conqueror, but to live like you believe it.
