Encourage Yourself in the Lord and Keep Going - September 21, 2026
There comes a point in our walk with Christ when we have to settle something:
Jesus is not one of our options. He is the Way.
There is no Plan B.
True conversion is more than saying that we believe in Jesus. It is the surrender of our lives to Him. It is the decision that whether the road is comfortable or uncomfortable, whether we understand what God is doing or not, we are going with Him.
The Apostle Paul gives us a powerful picture of what God can do with a completely surrendered life.
Paul wasn’t simply encouraged to become a slightly better version of himself. His encounter with Jesus redirected his entire life. The man who once persecuted believers became a preacher of the very Gospel he had opposed.
That should give us tremendous hope.
God can save anybody.
Nobody is too far away. Nobody is too hardened. Nobody is outside the reach of Jesus Christ.
That is why we continue praying for people, communities and nations—even when what we see with our natural eyes looks impossible.
Feed Your Spirit the Word
If we are going to live surrendered lives, we have to be strengthened by something greater than our circumstances.
The Word of God is food for the spirit.
Hebrews describes the Word of God as living, active and sharper than a two-edged sword. It reaches places human reasoning cannot reach.
The Word renews our minds.
The Word exposes lies.
The Word strengthens faith.
The Word breaks agreement with bondage.
And sometimes we simply need to encourage ourselves in the Lord.
David knew what that meant. When everything around him looked devastating, 1 Samuel 30:6 tells us that David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
There will be moments when nobody else can do that work for you.
You’ve got to remember what God said.
You’ve got to remember what He has already brought you through.
You’ve got to open your mouth and speak His Word again.
Watch the Murmuring
One of the things the Lord dealt with during this livestream was murmuring.
Murmuring isn’t simply having a difficult day or acknowledging that something hurts. Scripture repeatedly shows something deeper: a heart posture in which frustration and discontent begin challenging our trust in God.
And that is dangerous territory.
We can pray for breakthrough while speaking defeat over the very situation we’re asking God to change.
At some point, our mouths have to come into agreement with our faith.
Instead of rehearsing everything that appears to be going wrong, we can begin declaring:
God is still faithful.
God is still working.
God has not abandoned His Word.
Major breakthroughs are possible.
This isn’t pretending problems don’t exist. Faith doesn’t require denial of reality.
Faith says that what I see is not greater than the God I serve.
Stop Watching Everybody Else
Another important reminder from this message was simple:
Your success in the Kingdom does not come from watching what everybody else is doing.
It comes from relationship with Jesus.
Comparison can become a tremendous distraction. We can spend so much time examining someone else’s ministry, calling, platform, progress or blessings that we neglect our own relationship with God.
But Jesus didn’t call us to duplicate somebody else’s walk.
He called us to follow Him.
Our responsibility is to remain close enough to hear His voice and surrendered enough to obey when He speaks.
From Individual Wisdom to Corporate Destiny
Toward the end of the livestream, the message moved from the individual believer into something much larger.
Proverbs 3:16 and Isaiah 60.
Wisdom produces order in the individual life. Isaiah 60 gives us a picture of God’s light, restoration, gathering and nations being drawn toward that light.
There is an important principle here:
God works in us, but His purposes don’t necessarily stop with us.
Personal alignment can prepare us to participate in something corporate.
Personal obedience matters.
Personal surrender matters.
Personal integrity matters.
Because God can take many surrendered people and accomplish something far larger than any one of them could accomplish alone.
Perhaps some of what we call delay is actually preparation.
Perhaps God is bringing things into order.
Perhaps He’s teaching us to stop murmuring, strengthen ourselves in Him, feed ourselves His Word and keep walking—because what He’s preparing us to participate in requires mature faith.
And That’s Why We Keep Praying
We pray for the lost.
We pray for those who seem unreachable.
We pray for people in places of influence.
We pray for communities.
We pray for nations.
We pray for healing, deliverance, repentance and salvation.
Because if Jesus could interrupt Saul on the road to Damascus and turn a persecutor into an apostle, we don’t get to decide who is beyond God’s reach.
So don’t stop praying because someone looks impossible.
Don’t stop believing because circumstances haven’t changed yet.
Don’t allow murmuring to replace expectation.
And don’t abandon your assignment because you’re tired.
Encourage yourself in the Lord.
Return to His Word.
Get your mouth back into agreement with your faith.
Stay close to Jesus.
And settle it once and for all:
NO PLAN B.
Jesus is not merely part of the life we’re building.
He is our life.
Closing Prayer
Father, strengthen us in You. Teach us to recognize murmuring before it takes root in our hearts. Renew our minds through Your Word and bring our words into agreement with Your truth. Help us stop looking around and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Bring our lives into Your divine order and prepare us to participate in whatever You are doing in the earth. We pray for those who seem unreachable, remembering that no heart is beyond Your reach. Give us courage to believe, strength to obey, and grace to keep going. In Jesus’ name, amen.
