READ THE WILL
Prophetic Intercession & Prayer - May 4, 2026
What if you’re asking God for something He has already provided?
What if you’re begging for access to something Jesus already purchased?
What if part of the problem isn’t that you don’t have an inheritance—
you haven’t read the will?
🤣
Believers can know that we’re saved and still know very little about what salvation through Jesus Christ actually made available to us.
Thank God for salvation.
But don’t stop at the front door.
Get in the Word and discover what Jesus accomplished.
If He Gave Jesus…
Romans 8:32 asks one of the most powerful questions in Scripture:
“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”
— Romans 8:32 KJV
Before we question God’s willingness to care for us, we should look at what He has already given.
Jesus.
God didn’t withhold His Son.
That tells us something about His heart.
Sometimes we’re approaching God as though we’re trying to convince a reluctant Father to help us.
But the Cross tells another story.
Read the Will
Hebrews 1 tells us that God has spoken to us through His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things.
And Scripture teaches that those who belong to Christ share in an extraordinary spiritual inheritance through Him.
So maybe we should know what’s in the Book.

If somebody told you that you were named in a will containing a tremendous inheritance, you probably wouldn’t say:
“I’ll read that whenever I get around to it.”
You’d want to know:
What does it say?
What was provided?
What belongs to me?
Are there instructions?
What am I responsible for?
Yet believers can possess a Bible for decades and never seriously investigate what Jesus accomplished for us.
Read the will.
Salvation Is the Beginning
Salvation isn’t a ticket we tuck into our pockets while waiting to go to Heaven.
Jesus restored us to relationship with God.
Through Christ, we receive forgiveness, reconciliation, access to the Father, the Holy Spirit, a new identity, and a life that can now be lived under the reign of God.
There is something to learn.
Something to steward.
Something to walk in.
And something to give away.
Don’t settle for knowing only enough Scripture to know you’re going to Heaven.
Know Jesus. Know His Word. Learn your inheritance.
Know Your Authority
Luke 10:19 records Jesus speaking about authority over the power of the enemy.
But our authority must always remain rooted in His authority.
We don’t have spiritual authority because we’re impressive.
We have authority because we belong to Jesus.
That keeps us from two extremes:
Fear of the enemy…
and fascination with ourselves.

Neither one should be the focus.
Jesus is Lord.
When something contradicts God’s truth, we can pray, resist evil, reject destructive patterns, and bring our thoughts and words back into agreement with Scripture.
We don’t have to live perpetually intimidated.
Your Words Should Agree With His
Words matter.
But biblical declaration isn’t about pretending we’re sovereign and ordering the universe around.
God is sovereign.
Our words have power when they come into agreement with His truth and are used in faithful obedience to Him.
We pray His Word.
We confess His truth.
We reject lies.
We testify about what He has done.
Revelation 12:11 speaks of overcoming through the blood of the Lamb and the word of testimony.
Notice the order.
The blood of the Lamb comes first.
Our testimony points back to His victory.
Anxiety Doesn’t Get to Run the Meeting
Philippians 4 tells us:
Don’t be anxious about anything.
Instead, bring everything to God through prayer and supplication with thanksgiving.
And then comes the promise:
The peace of God will guard your heart and mind.
Sometimes exercising spiritual authority looks less dramatic than people imagine.
Sometimes it’s simply:
“I refuse to let anxiety govern me. I’m taking this to God.”
That’s authority too.
The Paper Towels Matter 🤣
During this livestream, I shared a simple testimony about finding paper towels.
Nothing dramatic.
No Red Sea opened.
No fire fell from Heaven.
Paper towels. 🤣
But small moments can teach us something about God’s care.
When we learn to recognize Him in ordinary life, our relationship with Him becomes more intimate.
We begin realizing:
God isn’t only interested in the “important” parts of our lives.
He cares about us.
If something matters to His child, we can bring it to Him.
Philippians 4 doesn’t say:
“Only bring God the impressive requests.”
It says:
In everything.
Call to Me
Jeremiah 33:3 says:
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
There’s that relationship again.
Call to Me.
God wants us communicating with Him.
There will always be things we don’t know.
We don’t need to pretend otherwise.
We have a Father we can ask.
It All Belongs to Him
Psalm 24 declares:
“The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof…”
That settles something important.
Ultimately, everything belongs to God.
Our inheritance never makes us independent of Him.
It should make us better stewards for Him.
Whatever He places in our hands—
resources,
influence,
revelation,
gifts,
opportunities,
platforms—
still belongs to the King.
The question becomes:
How can I use what He entrusted to me for His purposes?
His Purpose Cannot Be Restrained
Job 42:2 declares that God can do all things and that His purposes cannot be thwarted.
That means our confidence isn’t ultimately in how perfectly we understand everything.
Our confidence is in Him.
He is able.
He knows what He’s doing.
His purposes stand.
And when we don’t understand, we can call to Him.
The Expectation of the Wicked Comes to Nothing
Proverbs 10:28 contrasts the hope of the righteous with the expectation of the wicked.
We don’t need to organize our lives around somebody else’s expectation for our failure.
Let them expect.

Our eyes are on Jesus.
God’s Word determines what we believe.
God’s character determines where we place our confidence.
And God’s purposes are not restrained by somebody else’s opinion.
Stop Forfeiting What Jesus Provided
There may be things we have surrendered simply because we didn’t understand that we could stand differently.
Peace.
Confidence before God.
Freedom from condemnation.
Spiritual authority.
Identity.
Purpose.
Access to the Father.
Maybe the answer isn’t another frantic attempt to get something from God.
Maybe it’s time to open Scripture and discover what Christ has already accomplished.
Read the will.
Learn your inheritance.
Know the One who gave it.
And then steward everything He has placed in your hands for His glory.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for giving us Your Son.
Open our understanding as we read Your Word. Show us what Jesus accomplished through His death and resurrection and teach us how to live faithfully in what You have provided.
Deliver us from fear, anxiety, ignorance, condemnation, and every lie that causes us to live beneath our identity in Christ.
Teach us to use our words in agreement with Your truth.
Help us recognize Your care in both the extraordinary and the ordinary—even the paper-towel moments. 🤣
Give us wisdom to steward everything You place in our hands.
Above all, keep our inheritance from ever becoming more important to us than the One who gave it.
We want You, Lord.
