All Authority Belongs to Jesus — Now Go
You have an inheritance in Christ.
The question is:
Are you living like it?
During this livestream, I kept coming back to the authority and power of Jesus Christ—and what that means for those who belong to Him.
We were not saved merely to sit quietly and wait for Heaven.
Jesus gave us an assignment.
There are souls to reach.
People to pray for.
Strongholds to confront through prayer and truth.
Lives that need to encounter Jesus.
And a Gospel that must go into all the world.
It is time to understand what Christ has given us and—
Rock your inheritance.
All Authority Belongs to Jesus
Matthew 28:18–20 gives us the foundation.
Before Jesus tells His disciples to go, He tells them something about Himself:
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.
Then comes the commission.
Go.
That order matters.
Our confidence in the Great Commission does not begin with our abilities.
It begins with His authority.
Jesus is the source.
Jesus is the King.
Jesus is the One sending us.
And because He sends us, we do not have to approach the assignment intimidated by our limitations.
We go in dependence upon Him.
The “Cutesy Gospel” Is Not Enough
During this livestream, I again used the phrase “cutesy gospel.”
I am talking about a version of Christianity that is comfortable with appearances but uncomfortable with power, surrender, obedience, spiritual maturity, and the full counsel of God’s Word.
The Gospel is not powerless.
The Holy Spirit is not powerless.
Jesus Christ is not powerless.
And believers were never called to build lives around spiritual appearances while remaining disconnected from the One we profess to follow.
We need more than Christian language.
We need Jesus.
We need the Holy Spirit.
We need truth.
We need obedience.
And we need the courage to actually do what Christ commissioned us to do.
Rock Your Inheritance
What does it mean to rock your inheritance?
Know what belongs to you because you belong to Christ.
Know your identity.
Know the Word.
Know the One who sent you.
Stop measuring your Kingdom assignment by natural limitations.
You may feel weak.
You may feel overlooked.
You may feel unqualified.
You may be walking through a difficult season.
But none of those things change who Jesus is.
Our victory is not based upon pretending problems do not exist.
Our confidence rests in the finished work and authority of Jesus Christ.
So stand.
Pray.
Believe.
Obey.
Go.
Your Testimony Is a Weapon
One of the things we talked about was the power of testimony.
I shared the story of a friend who had been in a coma and the miraculous recovery that followed.
Why tell these stories?
Because testimony reminds us:
God has moved before.
When you are facing something difficult today, remember what God has already brought you through.
Remember the prayers He answered.
Remember the doors He opened.
Remember the moments when circumstances looked impossible.
Remember when God surprised you.
Your testimony does not replace Scripture.
It points back to the faithfulness of the God revealed in Scripture.
Do not bury what God has done.
Tell somebody.
Even the Bag Had a Message
I also shared the story of a particular bag that became meaningful to me as a reminder of faith and purpose.
Sometimes God uses ordinary things to bring an extraordinary truth back to our remembrance.
A conversation.
A song.
A license plate.
A bag.
A moment that somebody else might overlook.
The object itself is not the source of our faith.
God is.
But when something reminds you of what God has taught you, let it point your attention back to Him.
Remember the lesson.
Remember the assignment.
Remember what He has already brought you through.
And keep moving.
It Is Written
Luke 4 shows Jesus in the wilderness being tempted by the devil.
How did Jesus answer?
With the Word.
“It is written.”
Again:
“It is written.”
Again:
“It is written.”
If Jesus demonstrated reliance upon the Word during temptation, we should not expect to navigate spiritual opposition while neglecting Scripture.
Know the Word.
Read the Word.
Meditate on the Word.
Speak the Word.
And most importantly, allow the Word to transform the way you live.
Heaven and Earth Meet in Jesus
John 1:51 gives us the powerful imagery of Heaven opened and angels ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.
Jesus is not merely another spiritual teacher showing humanity how to climb toward God.
Jesus is the way.
He reconciles humanity to God.
He is our access.
He is our mediator.
He is our Savior.
Heaven and earth meet in Jesus Christ.
That is why everything returns to Him.
Not our personalities.
Not our platforms.
Not our ministries.
Not our accomplishments.
Jesus.
His Words Are Spirit and Life
John 6:63 reminds us that the words Jesus speaks are spirit and life.
We need to hear Him.
There is so much noise competing for our attention.
Opinions.
Fear.
Social media.
News.
People’s expectations.
Our own thoughts.
But disciples must learn to recognize the voice of the Shepherd in accordance with His Word.
That requires relationship.
Prayer.
Scripture.
Stillness.
Obedience.
We cannot effectively carry God’s instructions if we are never quiet enough to listen.
Protected for Purpose
Psalm 91 reminds us of God’s protection and care.
His angels are commanded concerning His people.
But biblical protection is not an invitation to recklessness or presumption.
Even Satan quoted Psalm 91 while tempting Jesus in the wilderness.
Jesus refused to manipulate God’s promise into a reason to test God.
That distinction is important.
Faith trusts God.
Presumption attempts to force God.
So we walk wisely, prayerfully, obediently, and confidently in the care of our Father.
Wait Until Strength Returns
Maybe you understand your assignment but you are tired.
Isaiah 40:31 gives us another promise:
Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength.
Sometimes Kingdom movement looks like going.
Sometimes it looks like waiting on God.
Waiting is not necessarily inactivity.
It can be dependence.
Recalibration.
Listening.
Receiving strength before the next instruction.
We do not have to manufacture power.
We return to the Source.
Now Go
Jesus has all authority.
And Jesus said:
Go.
Go make disciples.
Go carry the Gospel.
Go pray.
Go love people.
Go testify.
Go serve.
Go wherever the Holy Spirit leads.
You do not have to become someone else’s version of a believer before God can use you.
Know Christ.
Know His Word.
Know your identity in Him.
Receive your strength from Him.
And obey.
There is an inheritance in Christ that cannot be reduced to possessions, titles, or earthly success.
We have been given access to God.
We have been given the Holy Spirit.
We have been given the Gospel.
We have been given an assignment.
And we have been given the privilege of representing Jesus in the earth.
So do not leave your inheritance sitting untouched.
Rock your inheritance.
And then—
GO.
